Pangkalan Balai is a town or Sub-district in Banyuasin Regency, of South Sumatra province of Indonesia and it is the seat (capital) of Banyuasin Regency and is also the seat of Banyuasin III District. Pangkalan Balai is an area rich in natural resources, especially coal and oil and gas. The population in the 2010 census increased by around 786,887 people. [1]

The Musi River is a river in Southern Sumatra, Indonesia. It flows from south-west to north-east, from the Barisan Mountains range that form the backbone of Sumatra, in Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu Province, to the Bangka Strait that forms an extension of the South China Sea. It is about 750 kilometers long, and drains most of South Sumatra province. After flowing through Palembang, the provincial capital, it joins with several other rivers, including the Banyuasin River, to form a delta near the town of Sungsang. The river, dredged to a depth of about 6.5 meters, is navigable by large ships as far as Palembang, which is the site of major port facilities used primarily for the export of petroleum, rubber and palm oil.
Pelalawan is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency was created on 4 October 1999 as a result of the division of Kampar Regency, of which it was previously the eastern 43%. It now has an area of 13,408.72 km² and had a population of 301,829 at the 2010 Census and 390,046 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 410,988. The administrative centre is in the town of Pangkalan Kerinci.
Aceh Singkil Regency is a regency in the Aceh province of Indonesia. It is situated largely on the island of Sumatra, but also includes the offshore Banyak Islands, the largest of which is Tuangku, with the principal town of Alaban. Musi Banyuasin Regency is a regency of South Sumatra province, in Indonesia. Originally much larger, it was reduced by about 45% of its former area on 10 April 2002 by the splitting off of most of its eastern and northeastern districts to form the new Banyuasin Regency. It now has a total area of 14,265.96 km2 (5,508 sq mi) and a population of 561,458 at the 2010 Census and 622,206 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 633,124.

Much of the regency is coastal lowland.
Ogan Komering Ilir Regency is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It takes its name from the Ogan River and the Komering River, which are the two main rivers that drain the area. The name Ilir means downstream. The administrative centre is the town of Kayu Agung. The regency borders Palembang, Ogan Ilir Regency and Banyuasin Regency to the north, Bangka Strait, and Java Sea to the east, Lampung Province to the south, and Ogan Ilir Regency, and East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency to the west.
West Kotawaringin Regency is one of the thirteen regencies which comprise the Central Kalimantan Province on the island of Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia. It originally comprised the whole western part of the province, but on 10 April 2002 the most westerly districts were split off to form the new Lamandau Regency and Sukamara Regency. The population of the residual part of West Kotawaringin Regency was 235,803 at the 2010 Census and 270,388 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 274,935. The Palembang metropolitan area, known locally as Patungraya Agung, is a metropolitan area in South Sumatra, Indonesia. It encompasses Palembang as the core city and parts of the three surrounding regencies: Banyuasin Regency, Ogan Ilir Regency, and Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. It is the second-largest metropolitan area in Sumatra with an estimated population of over 2.7 million.
