Panjabi Hit Squad are British DJs, producers and radio broadcasters for BBC Asian Network [3] and formerly BBC 1Xtra. [4] The group recorded several albums, including Desi Beats Vol 1 with Def Jam. [2] They have won the UK Asian Music Awards three times, in 2003, 2005 and 2012. They produced two albums for Ms Scandalous, Ladies First and Aag. [5]

Career

Panjabi Hit Squad started their broadcasting career on BBC 1Xtra in 2002 where they hosted the Desi Beats show on Monday nights from 12–2am.[ citation needed ] In 2003, the show moved time slots to Thursday night from 10pm–12am.[ citation needed ] They won two UK Asian Music Awards (UK AMA) for Best Radio DJ, in 2003 [6] and 2005. [7] In 2007, Panjabi Hit Squad started to host their own show on BBC Asian Network on Saturdays from 6pm–9pm. [8] In 2012, they won the UK AMA for Best Club DJ. [9]

Panjabi Hit Squad hosted their own 2 hour mix show on the in-flight systems of every Emirates flight. [10]

Sarah-Jane Crawford is an English television and radio presenter, actress, voice-over artist, and DJ best known for her radio work with Hits Radio and formerly with BBC Radio 1Xtra, and television work with E! Network, ITV2 on The Xtra Factor, BBC and Channel 4. Crawford has also presented and appeared a number of shows for the Disney Channel and MTV. Crawford has been a vegan since 2015 and released a vegan app called Viappi in November 2017.

BBC Radio 1Xtra is a British digital radio station owned and operated by the BBC. It broadcasts black music and urban music, including hip hop and R&B and is a sister station to Radio 1. Launching at 18:00 on 16 August 2002, it had been code named "Network X" during the consultation period. At the time, the station was listed as "1 Xtra BBC" on many electronic programming guides. PBN or Punjabi By Nature is a UK-based Indian music producer, singer and songwriter, specialising in bhangra and Asian fusion productions, working with a great number of Desi music artists mainly based in the UK, beginning with the early 2000s. He is signed to Limitless Records and Playback Records. He has also formed TeamPBN as a collaborative project with Bambi, Raj Bains and Serena. Throughout his career, he has become well-known not only in his native UK, but in India, Europe, the Middle East, United States and Canada, Australia and, in general, the Asian music market. His productions are used extensively in night venues, DJ events and on BBC Asian Network and its weekly chart.

The awards show is produced by Brit Asia TV. Award winners are decided by public voting on a website from a list of nominees presented by the event organizers at a nomination party. Website desiblitz called it "UK's largest celebration of South Asian music" and "the biggest awards in the British Asian Music calendar".
