Pankaj Batra is an Indian film director. [1]

Pankaj Batra comes from Chandigarh in India. He has more than 15 years of experience as a director in Indian cinema. He is working in Punjabi cinema, from 2005. Batra is a Mumbai-based film director known for Sajjan Singh Rangroot Starring (Diljit Dosanjh), [2] Bambukat Starring (Ammy Virk), Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo Starring (Amrinder Gill), Naughty Jatts , and Dildariyaan . [3] [4] In 2017, he released his film Channa Mereya (film) starring Ninja, Payal Rajput, Amrit Maan, Karamjit Anmol. [5]

Career

His first Punjabi film as director was Reehjan [6] in November 2005, starring Ranjeet, Aryan Vaid, and Bunti Garewal. After that he directed a soap titled Chaldi Da Naam Gaddi [7] for Zee television in November 2007. Later on, he directed another show in 2008 titled Hum Tum for Zee . His second Punjabi feature film was Virsa [8] in 2008 starring Gulshan Grover and Aryan Babbar.

Pankaj Batra's first hit as director was Naughty Jatts, released in 2013, [9] starring Neeru Bajwa, Binnu Dhillon and Aarya Babbar. His next film Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo was hit in 2014 starring Amrinder Gill, Binnu Dhillon, Amrit Manghera. His third titled "Dildariyaan" [10] with Jassi Gill was his connective hit in 2015.

"Bambukat" [11] grossed Rs.1.38 crore in Punjab on its first day. [12] It was released in over 65 screens in key international markets on 29 July and grossed approximately US$1 million at the overseas box office in the first week. [13]

Sajjan Singh Rangroot is eighth highest Punjabi grossing film of all time and second highest-grossing film of 2018. [14]

His next is with super star Jassi Gill, Ranjit Bawa and Ninja, titled High End Yaariyan, which is scheduled for 22 February 2019 release. [15]

The film follows the story of Channan Singh, a young man falls in love with Pakko and ferries her around the village on his bicycle. However, things change after Resham Singh arrives with his new motorbike. The movie was released on 23 March 2018 to coincide with the death anniversary of Bhagat Singh. Sajjan Singh Rangroot is eighth highest grossing Punjabi film of all time and third highest-grossing film of 2018.

Channa Mereya is a 2017 Indian Punjabi-language romance film directed by Pankaj Batra. It is a remake of the Marathi film Sairat (2016). The film follows Kainat, a girl from a wealthy family who falls in love with her poor classmate Jagat (Ninja). They start seeing each other secretly, but when their relationship is exposed, they face trouble from Kainat's brother Balli and father. The film received mixed reviews from critics.

Filmfare Awards Punjabi are presented to the best films and performers in Punjabi cinema. The Awards were first presented in 2017.

Mitran Da Naa Chalda is a 2023 Indian Punjabi-language comedy drama film directed by Pankaj Batra. The film stars Gippy Grewal, Tania, Raj Shokar and Renu Kaushal. The film was released under the banner of Zee Studios and Pankaj Batra films.
