Pants Velour is an American hip hop group from New York City, New York. Pants records for Tommy Boy Entertainment.
In 2006, Eli Northrup, Nellie Thompson, Sam Coe, and Josh Raff formed Pants Velour while undergraduate students at Cornell University. [1] After graduating in 2007, the members reunited in New York City in 2008. [2] Eli Northrup is a rapper in the group and has also been considered a "Hypeman" who pumps up the crowd. [2] Niki Darling is the lead singer of the group. [3]
Pants Velour has played shows alongside Mobb Deep, Dru Hill, Magic!, and members of Black Sheep, A Tribe Called Quest, and Naughty By Nature. [4] [5] Dial 7 Car and Limousine featured Pants Velour in a popular ad campaign. [6] [7] [8] Pants Velour has performed in Europe.
In 2011, Pants Velour made a hip hop video entitled "Charlie Sheen: Always Winning," which became a YouTube sensation. [9] The song was inspired by Sheen’s interview on ABC television. [10] At the time of the video's release, Eli Northrup was a law student at New York University School of Law. Above the Law (blog) ran a blurb on the story, and it became a big story in the legal community. [11] Am Law Daily’s Careerist blog called it “fast and saucy—especially amazing coming from a serious law student.” [9] While in law school, Northrup regularly performed with Pants Velour. [12]
In 2012, Pants Velour represented Manhattan in the Battle of the Boroughs. [13]
In 2013, Pants Velour played at New Music Seminar. [14]
In 2014, Pants Velour signed with Tommy Boy Entertainment. The group played at CMJ 2014 in New York City, New York. [15] The group released a music video for 'All In.' The video was produced by Howard Buksbaum and Danny Ameri of Very Nice Industries. Broadway World called the video cutting edge, a technological wonder and a visual feast. [4] Pants Velour was the opening performance for Dru Hill at B.B. Kings in NYC in October 2014. [4] Pants Velour was a supporting act for Magic! at Webster Hall. [4] 'Taxidermist,' was currently #30 on the zipDJ Urban chart. [4] The group has played at the Highline Ballroom. In 2015, Pants Velour performed at Pianos. [20] The group also performed at the Brooklyn Bowl.
USA Today described the group as a “unique brand of hip-hop, R&B, and pop”, [21] and The Washington Post described them as a combination of ”today’s pop-soul and yesterday’s hip-hop.” [22] The group has also been described as a combination of the Beastie Boys and The Black Eyed Peas. [13] They have been characterized as infusing hip-hop, pop, rock and soul together. [23]

Kasseem Daoud Dean, known professionally as Swizz Beatz, is an American record producer, rapper, disc jockey (DJ) and songwriter. Born and raised in the Bronx borough of New York City, Dean embarked on his musical career as a DJ. At the age of 18, he started to gain recognition in the hip hop industry through his family's record label, Ruff Ryders, as well as his friendship and work with East Coast rapper DMX. Working with DMX as his producer, DJ and hype man, helped Dean gain prominence as a high-profile personality in hip hop.

Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, better known by his stage name Wale, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. He first gained recognition in 2006, when his song "Dig Dug " became popular in his hometown, leading Wale to became locally recognized as he continued recording music for the regional audience. Wale met English DJ-producer Mark Ronson in 2006 and joined his label, Allido Records in 2007. While signed to that label, Wale released several mixtapes and appeared in national media including MTV and various Black American-focused magazines. A song called "Ridin' in That Black Joint" was featured in the popular video game Saints Row 2's soundtrack in 2008.

Twerking is a type of dance that came out of the bounce music scene of New Orleans in the late 1980s. Individually performed chiefly but not exclusively by women, performers dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving throwing or thrusting their hips back or shaking their buttocks, often in a low squatting stance. Twerking is part of a larger set of characteristic moves unique to the New Orleans style of hip-hop known as "bounce". Moves include "mixing", "exercising", the "bend over", the "shoulder hustle", "clapping", "booty clapping", "booty poppin", and "the wild wood"—all recognized as booty shaking or bounce. Twerking is but one choreographic gesture within bounce.

The Migos were an American hip hop group from Lawrenceville, Georgia, founded in 2008. The group was originally composed of Southern rappers Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset. Quavo is from Athens, Georgia and Offset and Takeoff were born and raised in nearby Lawrenceville, Georgia. As a group, they were managed by Coach K, the former manager of Gucci Mane and Jeezy, and frequently collaborated with producers such as DJ Durel, Murda Beatz, Zaytoven, and Buddah Bless. Recognized for their contribution to trap music in the 2010s, Billboard stated that the group "influenced pop culture and the entire English language by bringing their North Atlanta roots to the mainstream".

"7/11" is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé for the reissue of her fifth studio album Beyoncé (2013), subtitled Platinum Edition (2014). It was released on November 25, 2014, by Columbia Records as the second single from the reissue. The song was written by Beyoncé, Bobby Johnson, and Alonzo Holt. "7/11" is a trap song with elements of hip hop present in its composition. It features rap-singing vocals by Beyoncé over a warped up-tempo beat.
