"Papa Nero" ("Black Pope") is a song by the Venetian reggae band Pitura Freska, with lyrics in the Venetian language.
It was performed at the 1997 Sanremo Music Festival, and became very popular throughout Italy. It is notable for being one of the very few songs (if not the only song) in Venetian that got significant media exposure outside the Veneto region.
The lyrics are inspired on a prediction by Nostradamus that the next-to-last Pope will come from Africa. They can be read as a light-hearted anti-racist and anti-xenophobic message. Some famous verses were:

Salvatore "Toto" Cutugno was an Italian pop singer-songwriter, musician, and television presenter. He was best known for his worldwide hit song, "L'Italiano", released on his 1983 album of the same title. Cutugno also won the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 held in Zagreb, SFR Yugoslavia, with the song "Insieme: 1992", for which he wrote both the lyrics and music. He has been described as "one of the most popular singers in Italy and a symbol of Italian melody abroad", as well as "one of the most popular Italian performers on a global scale" and "one of the most successful Italian songwriters of all time", selling over 100 million records worldwide.
Adionilla Pizzi, known by her stage name Nilla Pizzi, was an Italian singer and actress.
"Nel blu, dipinto di blu", popularly known as "Volare", is a song originally recorded by Italian singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno, with music composed by himself and Italian lyrics written by himself and Franco Migliacci. It was released as a single on 1 February 1958.

Having sold over 25 million records globally and career spanning seven decades, he is one of the most recognisable Italian singers in the world. He has gained worldwide notability due to his four and a half octave vocal range as well as his personal and professional association with Romina Power, daughter of Hollywood actor Tyrone Power, lasting until the 1990s. Carrisi is acclaimed for singing with operatic affinity in pop, rock and italo disco repertoires with extensive head voice and minimal usage of falsetto vocal register. As of 2023, he has participated in 15 editions of the Sanremo Music Festival, tying the record for most participations with Anna Oxa, Milva, Peppino di Capri and Toto Cutugno; this includes a victory in 1984 duetting with Power. He additionally took part in the Sanremo Giovani selection in 1965.
"Ma se ghe penso" is a song in the Genoese dialect of Ligurian. It has a central role in the folklore of the Italian city of Genoa and is commonly quoted as one of its symbols. The song was written by Mario Cappello, with Attilio Margutti having helped with the music. "Ma se ghe penso" was launched in 1925. Its first performance was by soprano Luisa Rondolotti, in Genoa's Teatro Orfeo.

It was first performed during the 15th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, in January 1965, when Italian singer Bobby Solo and American folk band The New Christy Minstrels performed two different versions of the song, winning the competition.

Pitura Freska was a reggae music group based in Venice, Italy, consisting of Marco Forieri, Sir Oliver Skardy, Francesco Duse (guitar), Cristiano Verardo (guitar), Valerio Silvestri (trumpet), Toni Costantini (trombone) and Francesco "Ciuke" Casucci (bass). The name of the group is Venetian dialect for "wet paint".
"Poppa Piccolino" was a song recorded by Diana Decker which reached number 2 on the UK singles chart in December 1953. It was the only UK hit single for this British-based American-born singer and actress. It was later also recorded by Petula Clark, Mantovani and David Whitfield .

The song won the Sanremo Music Festival 2015 and represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 where it won the televoting, came sixth with the juries and third overall. The song was also covered with releases in other languages.

"Il cuore è uno zingaro" is a song composed by Franco Migliacci (lyrics) and Claudio Mattone (music). The song won the twenty-first edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, with a double performance by Nicola Di Bari and Nada. The Di Bari's version peaked at first place for six weeks on the Italian hit parade.
"Chiamami ancora amore" is a song by Italian singer-songwriter Roberto Vecchioni, written by Vecchioni himself, together with Claudio Guidetti, which also produced the track. The song won the 61st Sanremo Music Festival, also receiving the "Mia Martini" Critics' Prize, and the Press, Radio and TV Award.
"Occidentali's Karma" is a song performed by Italian singer Francesco Gabbani. The song was released as a digital download on 10 February 2017 through BMG Rights Management as the lead single from his third studio album Magellano (2017). The song was written by Gabbani, Filippo Gabbani, Fabio Ilacqua, and Luca Chiaravalli. It won the Sanremo Music Festival 2017 and represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, finishing in sixth place.

The song was released as a digital download on 7 February 2018 as the lead single from the respective albums by each artist: Non abbiamo armi and Parole rumori e anni. It won the Sanremo Music Festival 2018 and represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. On 30 March 2018, the shortened version for Eurovision was released on Spotify.
Alessandro Mahmoud, known professionally as Mahmood, is an Italian singer-songwriter. He rose to prominence after competing on the sixth season of the Italian version of The X Factor. He has won the Sanremo Music Festival twice, in 2019 with the song "Soldi" and in 2022 alongside Blanco with the song "Brividi". His Sanremo victories allowed him to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in those respective years, finishing in second place in 2019 and in sixth place in 2022 as the host entrant.
The Sanremo Music Festival 1956, officially the 6th Italian Song Festival, was the sixth annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Sanremo Casino in Sanremo, province of Imperia between 8 and 10 March 1956. The show was presented by actor Fausto Tommei, assisted by television announcer Maria Teresa Ruta.
Italy participated in and won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Italian broadcaster RAI announced in October 2020 that the winning performer(s) of the Sanremo Music Festival 2021, later turning out to be Måneskin with "Zitti e buoni", would earn the right to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Måneskin eventually became the sixty-eighth winner of the Eurovision Song Contest and the first Italian entry to win the contest in 31 years. Italy received a total of 524 points, winning the public vote with 318 points and coming at fourth place in the jury vote with 206 points.
