Kigali is the capital and largest city of Rwanda. It is near the nation's geographic centre in a region of rolling hills, with a series of valleys and ridges joined by steep slopes. As a primate city, Kigali is a relatively new city. It has been Rwanda's economic, cultural, and transport hub since it was founded as an administrative outpost in 1907, and became the capital of the country at independence in 1962, shifting focus away from Huye.
Education in Rwanda has undergone considerable changes throughout Rwanda's recent history, and has faced major disruptions due to periods of conflict. Education was divided by gender whereby women and men had a different education relevant to their responsibilities in day-to-day life. Women were mostly taught housekeeping while men were mainly taught how to hunt, raise animals, and fish. This is because Rwanda was a community-based society where every member had a specific contribution to the overall development of the community. Silas Stanislaus Bernard Lwakabamba or simply SilasLwakabamba, is a Tanzanian engineer, academic and politician. Since May 2021, he has been serving as the Regional Managing Director of Coventry University African Hub, based in Kigali, Rwanda. Lwakabamba holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Leeds in England since 1975. Since 1997, he served as the founding Rector of Rwanda’s Kigali Institute of Science and Technology. In 2006, he was appointed Rector of National University of Rwanda until 2013. Lwakabamba served as Rwanda's Minister of Infrastructure between February 2013 and July 2014, he also served as Rwanda's Minister of Education since July 2014 until June 2015.
Antoine Kambanda is a Rwandan prelate of the Catholic Church who has been Archbishop of Kigali since 2019. He was Bishop of Kibungo from 2013 to 2018.
The Cabinet of Rwanda consists of the Prime Minister, Ministers, Ministers of State and other members nominated by the President. Members of Cabinet are selected from political organisations based on the number of seats they hold in the Chamber of Deputies, but members of Cabinet cannot themselves belong to the Chamber.
The Ministry of Education of Rwanda, previously the Ministère de l'Éducation, de la Science, de la Technologie et de la Recherche scientifique, is headquartered in Kigali. As of December 2017, the minister is Dr. Eugène Mutimura. He was preceded by Dr. Papias Malimba Musafiri, who served in that position since June 2015 - December 2017.
University of Rwanda is a public collegiate, multi campus university based in Kigali, Rwanda. Formed in 2013 through the merger of previously independent education institutions, the University of Rwanda is the largest education institution in Rwanda. The University of Rwanda is ranked number one in the country by the Higher Education Council, an organ established by the Government of Rwanda.
Stella Ford Mugabo is a Rwandan politician who has served as Minister of Cabinet Affairs since July 2013.

Francis Kaboneka, is a Rwandan public administrator and politician. He is the Cabinet Minister of Local Government in the Rwandan cabinet. He has served in that role, since 24 July 2014. In the cabinet reshuffle of 31 August 2017, he was retained in cabinet and he retained his portfolio.
Germaine Kamayirese is an engineer and politician in Rwanda, who served as the Minister of Emergency Management and Refugee Affairs in the Rwandan cabinet, from 18 October 2018 until she was dropped from cabinet on 27 February 2020.
Vincent Biruta is a Rwandan physician and politician who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from November 2019 to June 2024. He previously served in various other positions in the Rwandan cabinet under Presidents Paul Kagame and Pasteur Bizimungu.
Jean-Philbert Nsengimana is a Rwandan software engineer and politician, who has served as the cabinet minister of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), since 31 August 2017. Immediately before his current assignment, from December 2011 until 31 August 2017, he served as the cabinet minister for Youth and ICT. He has maintained that assignment in the various cabinet reshuffles since.
Paula Ingabire is a Rwandan technology professional and politician, who serves as the Minister of Information and communications technology and Innovation, in the Cabinet of Rwanda, since 18 October 2018.
Nelly Mukazayire is a Rwandan economist and public administrator, who served as the chief executive officer of the Rwanda Convention Bureau, a division of the Rwanda Development Board. she has been promoted to the post of the Deputy CEO of RDB in march 2023 where she was the deputy to Francis Gatare, the CEO of RDB in September 2024 she have been promoted to be the permanent secretary in the ministry of sports in Rwanda government
Irere Claudette is a Rwandan technology professional and politician, who was appointed the Minister of State in charge of ICT and Technical Vocational Education and Training by President of Rwanda Paul Kagame in February 2020. This position has been reinstated as the Government moves to streamline and strengthen TVET Education and ICT integration in teaching and learning.
