Harano Sur is a 1957 Indian Bengali-language romantic drama film by Ajoy Kar, starring Suchitra Sen and Uttam Kumar, with music by Hemant Kumar, and sung by Geeta Dutt. This is the first film that Uttam had produced along with Ajoy Kar. The film is regarded as one of the finest examples of Bengali cinema of this early period. Deepak Chakraborty, is an Indian actor and director in the Bengali film industry located in Kolkata, West Bengal. He is the son of renowned cartoonist Shaila Chakraborty. He is also a politician and a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Government of West Bengal. He was born on 2 November 1950 at Kolkata. He has got the BFJA Award for his film Abaidha in 2002. Agradoot was a group of Indian film technicians signing collectively as director, a phenomenon unique to Bengali cinema. The Agradoot core unit, formed in 1946, consisted initially of Bibhuti Laha, Jatin Datta (sound), Sailen Ghosal, Nitai Bhattacharya (scenarist) and Bimal Ghosh (production). The group was active up to the end of 1980s.

Nemai Ghosh was a noted Indian photographer most known for working with Satyajit Ray, as a still photographer for over two decades, starting with Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (1969) till Ray's last film Agantuk (1991).
Filmfare Awards East is the Bengali segment of the annual Filmfare Awards, presented by The Times Group to honour the artistic and cinematic excellence in Bengali. The first installment of the awards were held for Bengali, Assamese and Odia films in a ceremony on 29 March 2007.
