Parkstone Yacht Club (PYC) is the Largest operating Yacht Club in Poole and among the Largest in Europe. The club's purpose is "to provide the members with outstanding yacht cruising, racing and social opportunities in the UK and internationally.

History

Parkstone Lake Pier Committee was set up in July 1894 to provide a pier for boating from Weston's Point.

Parkstone Yacht Club, founded on Thursday 23 May 1895 was then known as the Parkstone Boating and Pier Club.

Activities

The club is involved in a range of yachting events for both the cruising and racing yachtsman, motor yacht owners and all those interested in the sea. Through the club's events and other contacts, members have access to yachting activities worldwide. The club hosts both member andvisitor events, notably Parkstone Youth Week which was a RYA Finalist, for Event of the Year in 2025. [1]

Local boats

Parkstone has a large amount of boats from the local area including AB, Dolphin and the XOD celebrating 150 years in 2025.

Racing

The club participates in numerous racing events both in the UK and worldwide. There is a bi-annual regatta – the Poole Regatta – within the harbour and opportunities for both fleet and match racing. The club is particularly active in dinghy racing and regularly competes with other leading clubs around the world.

Cruising

The Club has an active Cruising fleet who venture around the UK and further afield.

Social

The Club hosts a mixture of activities with the busiest night fridays where both youth and adults relax after sailing.

Charitable trust

The Club supports various charities.
