Parrish High School was a secondary education public school located in Parrish, Alabama and was a part of the Walker County School System.

History

The original Parrish High School building opened in 1920 on the present site of Parrish Elementary School. The school was moved in 1935 to a site on the hill to the west of the elementary school. This site was consumed by fire in 1979 and subsequently moved to its current location just off Alabama 269. An on-campus football stadium was built some years later, named Harland-Nelson Stadium. [1]

In 2014, the Walker County Board of Education voted to close the high school after the 2013–2014 school year along with Sipsey Jr. High School and T.S. Boyd Elementary School due to budget constraints. [2] Parris High School students not graduating that year were transferred to two nearby schools; they chose between either Oakman High School in Oakman or Cordova High School in Cordova. [3] [4]

Athletics

The Parrish High School football team played its football games at Harland-Nelson Stadium which is named after a former head coach George Harland and the Nelson Brothers Inc. a proud company supporter. They won the AHSAA Class 1A State Championship in 2003. The Parrish High School Basketball team made the 2013 State Championship game, While the Parrish High School Softball team won the 2013 State Championship

Byron Nelson High School is a public high school located in Trophy Club, Texas about 20 miles (32 km) north of Fort Worth, Texas, in Denton County and opened in August 2009 for the 09–10 school year. It is the second high school in the Northwest Independent School District. The school cost $86.5 million dollars to build. It is approximately 504,000 square feet (46,800 m2), with a 32,000-square-foot (3,000 m2) courtyard in the middle. The academic wing seats a 700-seat cafeteria with a mall-style food court serving layout. It is built along the property of the Army Corps of Engineers, along the edge of where Denton Creek flows into Lake Grapevine at the lake's southwestern corner. In 2013, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. In 2019, Byron Nelson High School earned an "A" according to TEA's school accountability rating system.

Brookwood High School is a high school in Brookwood, Alabama, in the United States and serves grades 9-12. It previously served grades 7-12 until 2002. It is the third largest high school in the Tuscaloosa County School System. The school was established in 1927. Prior to 2014, the school was housed in a building designed by noted architect Don Buel Schuyler, who was a protege of Frank Lloyd Wright. In 2012, construction began on a new state-of-the-art building and was completed in 2013. The new high school opened to students at the beginning of 2014. During the fall of 2022, TCSS broke ground on a new football stadium, though the facility is being paid for by a $18.2 million grant from the Alabama Board of Education.
