Lloyd Price was an American R&B and rock 'n' roll singer, known as "Mr. Personality", after his 1959 million-selling hit, "Personality". His first recording, "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", was a hit for Specialty Records in 1952. He continued to release records, but none were as popular until several years later, when he refined the New Orleans beat and achieved a series of national hits. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is an American brass band based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The ensemble was established in 1977, by Benny Jones and members of the Tornado Brass Band. The Dirty Dozen incorporated funk and bebop into the traditional New Orleans jazz style, and has since been a major influence on local music. They won the Grammy Award for Best American Roots Performance in 2023.

Big Boy Records, also known as the Boot Camp Clicc, is an independent record label established in late 1992 by Charles "Big Boy" Temple, Robert "Big Rob" Shaw", and his producer Leroy "Precise" Edwards. In the early 1990s, the label was prominent in Southern hip hop music until the emergence of Master P's No Limit Records and Birdman's Cash Money Records later that decade.
