Parul Akhtar (born 10 August 1972) is a Awami League politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member from a women's reserved for Dhaka District. [1] [2]
Several politico-constitutional arrangements use reserved political positions,especially when endeavoring to ensure the rights of women,minorities or other segments of society,or preserving a political balance of power.
The Senate of Pakistan or Aiwān-e-BālāPākistān,constitutionally the House of the Federation,is the upper house of the bicameral Parliament of Pakistan. As of 2023,It has a maximum membership of 96,of which 92 are elected by the provincial legislatures using single transferable vote. Four represent the Federal Capital. Members sit for terms lasting six years,with half of the house up for election every three years. Unlike the National Assembly,the Senate is a continuing chamber and hence not subject to dissolution.
The National Assembly of Pakistan is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of Pakistan,with the upper house being the Senate. As of 2023,the National Assembly has a maximum membership of 336,of which 266 are directly elected by an adult universal suffrage and a first-past-the-post system to represent their respective constituencies,while 60 are elected on reserved seats for women and religious minorities from all over the country. Members hold their seats for five years or until the house is dissolved by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister. The house convenes at the Parliament House,Red Zone,Islamabad.
Bangladesh elects on national level a legislature with one house or chamber. The unicameral Jatiyo Sangshad,meaning national parliament,has 350 members of which 300 members are directly elected through a national election for a five-year term in single-seat constituencies while 50 memberships are reserved for the women who are selected by the ruling party or coalition. The Prime Minister is the head of the government. The president who is the head of the state is elected by the National Parliament. The president of Bangladesh is a ceremonial post and does not exercise any control over the running of the state.
A member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency,the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha,the lower house of India's bicameral parliament. There are also members in three unicameral legislatures in Union Territories:the Delhi Legislative Assembly,Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the Puducherry Legislative Assembly. Only a Member of the Legislative Assembly can work as a minister for more than 6 months. If a non-Member of the Legislative Assembly becomes a Chief Minister or a minister,he must become an MLA within 6 months to continue in the job. Only a Member of the Legislative Assembly can become the Speaker of the Legislature.
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 1 October 2001. The 300 seats of the Jatiya Sangsad were contested by 1,935 candidates representing 54 parties and 484 independents. The elections were the second to be held under the caretaker government concept,introduced in 1996.
Reservation is a system of affirmative action in India created during the British rule. Based on provisions in the Indian Constitution,it allows the Union Government and the States and Territories of India to set a percentage of reserved quotas or seats,in higher education admissions,employment,political bodies,etc.,for "socially and economically backward citizens".

It was established under Article 106 of the Constitution of Pakistan,having a total of 145 seats,with 115 general seats,26 seats reserved for women and 4 reserved for non-Muslims.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election,2024 is an election of members to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation which governs Greater Mumbai,the largest city in India. The election dates are yet to be announced by the state election commission and could be held in 2024.
