The pascal is the unit of pressure in the International System of Units (SI). It is also used to quantify internal pressure, stress, Young's modulus, and ultimate tensile strength. The unit, named after Blaise Pascal, is an SI coherent derived unit defined as one newton per square metre (N/m2). It is also equivalent to 10 barye in the CGS system. Common multiple units of the pascal are the hectopascal, which is equal to one millibar, and the kilopascal, which is equal to one centibar.

The ISSF World Shooting Championships are governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation. World Shooting Championships began in 1897, after the successful 1896 Summer Olympics, and although the ISSF was not founded until 1907, these early competitions are still seen by the organization as the beginning of a continuous row of championships. By this logic, the 2006 competition in Zagreb was called the 49th ISSF World Shooting Championships. These championships, including all ISSF shooting events, are held every four years since 1954. For the shotgun events only, there is an additional World Championship competition in odd-numbered years. These extra competitions are not numbered. In running target, there will be World Championships in Olympic years.

Mount Epperly is a 4,359-metre-high (14,301 ft) or perhaps 4,512-metre-high (14,803 ft) mountain in the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. It overlooks Cervellati Glacier to the northeast and Ramorino Glacier to the east-northeast. The peak was first climbed by Erhard Loretan, solo over the 2,100-metre-high (6,900 ft) south face, on December 1, 1994. Loretan returned the next year and reclimbed the route for a film. In 1999, the American climbers Conrad Anker and Jim Donini failed in their attempt over the west ridge. The third successful ascent was by the Chilean Camilo Rada and Australian Damien Gildea via a new route over the south face in December 2007. Their GPS measurements on top suggested a height 153 m above the official one. This mountain is named after Robert Epperly who spent time during the International Geophysical Year of 1957–1958 in Antarctica. Bob served in the US Navy at that time. He lived his latter years in Worthington, Massachusetts and is interred there.
Artur Surenovych Ayvazyan is an Olympic shooter for Ukraine and Russia who won a gold medal in the 50 metre rifle prone event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Guy Starik is an Israeli sport shooter who has competed in four Olympics. He has won gold medals in shooting at both the European Championships and at four World Cups, and shares the world record in the 50 meter rifle prone competition.
Jonathan William James Hammond is a British sport shooter, who has competed for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games and Great Britain at the Olympics. He is currently the head coach of the rifle team at the West Virginia University.
Péter Sidi is a Hungarian sport shooter. He has been world champion in the 50 m rifle 3 positions, as well as winning silver medals in the 300 m rifle prone and the men's 10 metre air rifle. He has also won bronze medals in the 50 metre rifle 3 positions and the 50 m rifle prone team event. He currently holds the qualification world record in 10 m Air Rifle.
Niccolò Campriani is an Italian sport shooter and shooting coach. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in the men's 10 metre air rifle, men's small-bore rifle, three positions, 50 metres and men's small-bore rifle, prone, 50 metres, and at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's 10 metre air rifle, winning silver, and in the men's 50 metre rifle three positions, where he won gold with a total of 1278.5 points.
Kim Jong-hyun is a South Korean sport shooter. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's 10 metre air rifle, where he did not reach the final. He was far more successful in the men's 50 metre rifle - three positions event, where he won the silver medal. At the 2016 Olympic Games he also secured a silver medal in 50 m rifle prone.
Ole-Kristian Bryhn is a Norwegian sport shooter.
The free rifle is a group of events held at the Olympics, beginning in 1896 and continuing to the current programme. Current nomenclature drops the "free" and refers to the event type as simply the "rifle." The women's 50 metre version has also been referred to as the "standard" and "sport" rifle. The "free" rifle is distinct from the military rifle, air rifle, and small-bore rifle.
