Patronella Zingisa "Pat" Lekker is a South Africa politician. A member of the African National Congress, she is currently serving as the Chief Whip of the Official Opposition in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. [1]

Life and career

Born in Cape Town, Lekker still currently resides in Cape Town. She graduated from Sizamile Secondary. She is well known in the ANC's Dullah Omar region.

Lekker was elected to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament in 2014 and took office as a Member on 21 May 2014. She represents the Philippi township of the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality in the provincial parliament. [2]

For the Fifth Provincial Parliament, she served as a Member of the Standing Committee on Community Safety. She was also an Alternate Member of the Standing Committees on Community Development and Transport and Public Works.

For the 2019 elections, she was first on the party's provincial parliament candidate list. [3] After the election, Lekker was named chief whip of the official opposition. [4]

He served as Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation in the cabinet of Jacob Zuma. From 2009 to 2014, he was a Member of the National Assembly. 27th South African Parliament Current session of South African Parliament

The 27th South African Parliament is the sixth Parliament of South Africa to convene since the introduction of non-racial government in South Africa in 1994. It was elected in the general election of 8 May 2019 and consists of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. The National Assembly contains 400 members, while the National Council of Provinces contains 90 members. It was formally opened by President Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address in a joint sitting on 20 June 2019.

Lulama Lennox Mvimbi is a South African politician, party member of the African National Congress and a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since 22 May 2019. He was the Mayor of the Bitou Local Municipality for two nonconsecutive terms, from 1995 to 1998 and again from 2006 to 2011, respectively. Pemmy Castelina Pamela Majodina is a South African politician serving as a Member of the National Assembly since 2019. A member of the African National Congress, she is the party's chief whip in the assembly. Siyazi Gratefull Tyatyam is a South African politician who served as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament for the African National Congress from May 2014 to May 2019. Tyatyam served as the party's deputy chief whip until his removal in 2016.
