Patrice Pivin (born 18 August 1991) is a Canadian male track cyclist, representing Canada at international competitions. He won the bronze medal at the 2016 Pan American Track Cycling Championships in the team sprint. [1]
Christopher Miles Boardman, is a British former racing cyclist who won an individual pursuit gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics, broke the world hour record three times, and won three stages and wore the yellow jersey on three separate occasions at the Tour de France. In 1992, he was awarded an MBE for services to cycling.
Jeannie Longo is a French racing cyclist, 25-time French champion and 13-time world champion. Longo began racing in 1975 and was active in cycling through 2012. She was once widely considered the best female cyclist of all time, although that reputation is now clouded by suspicion of doping throughout her career. She is famous for her competitive nature and her longevity in a sport where some of her competitors were not yet born during her first Olympic competition in 1984. She was selected to compete for France in the 2008 Olympics, her seventh Olympic Games. She had stated that this would be her final participation in the Olympics. In the Women's road race, she finished 24th, 33 seconds behind winner Nicole Cooke, who was one year old when Longo first rode in the Olympics. At the same Olympics, she finished 4th in the road time trial, just two seconds shy of securing a bronze medal. She is currently number two on the all-time list of French female summer or winter Olympic medal winners, with a total of four medals, which is one less than the total number won by the fencer Laura Flessel-Colovic.
Patrice Chéreau was a French opera and theatre director, filmmaker, actor and producer. In France he is best known for his work for the theatre, internationally for his films La Reine Margot and Intimacy, and for his staging of the Jahrhundertring, the centenary Ring Cycle at the Bayreuth Festival in 1976. Winner of almost twenty movie awards, including the Cannes Jury Prize and the Golden Berlin Bear, Chéreau served as president of the jury at the 2003 Cannes festival.
Patrice Lauzon is a Canadian ice dancing coach and former competitor. With partner and wife Marie-France Dubreuil, he is a two-time (2006–2007) World silver medalist.
Brian Clifford Walton is a cycling coach and Canadian former professional road and track cyclist. His racing career spanned 18 years, racing professionally for North American pro teams 7-Eleven, Motorola, and Saturn. He represented Canada at the Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games, and the Olympic Games in 1988, 1996 and 2000. He won a silver medal in the points race at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Walton was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
Tara Alice Whitten is a Canadian track racing cyclist from Edmonton, Alberta.
Sam Webster is a New Zealand track cyclist. He was the 2009 sprint, keirin and team sprint World Champion at the Junior World Championships and New Zealand national track cycling champion. He won gold medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the individual sprint and the team sprint.
Hersony Gadiel Canelón Vera is a male professional track and road cyclist from Venezuela. He won a silver medal for his native country at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, alongside César Marcano and Andris Hernández in the Men's Track Team Sprint, and won a gold in 2010. He competed in men's track cycling at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and the 2016 Games in Rio.
Patrice Victor Cormier is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He is currently under contract with Ak Bars Kazan of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Cormier was drafted in the second round, 54th overall, by the New Jersey Devils at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Michael Thomas Gallagher, OAM is an Australian Paralympic cyclist from Scotland. He has won gold medals at the Beijing and 2012 London Paralympics. He was selected in the Australian team for the 2016 Rio Paralympics. The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency (ASADA) revealed that Gallagher had returned a positive A sample for erythropoietin (EPO) in an out-of-competition training camp in Italy in July 2016. This A positive disqualified him from the Rio Paralympics.
David Nicholas, is an Australian cyclist. He won silver and gold medals at the 2012 London Paralympics and a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
Jasmin Duehring is a German-born Canadian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team Sho-Air TWENTY20. Duehring was part of the Canadian team that won bronze medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games in the women's team pursuit. She was also part of the team that won gold at the 2011 Pan American Games in the team pursuit.
The Jahrhundertring was the production of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle, Der Ring des Nibelungen, at the Bayreuth Festival in 1976, celebrating the centenary of both the festival and the first performance of the complete cycle. The festival was directed by Wolfgang Wagner and the production was created by the French team of conductor Pierre Boulez, stage director Patrice Chéreau, stage designer Richard Peduzzi, costume designer Jacques Schmidt and lighting designer André Diot. The cycle was shown first in 1976, then in the following years until 1980. It was filmed for television in 1979 and 1980. While the first performance caused "a near-riot" for its brash modernity, the staging established a standard, termed Regietheater, for later productions.
Sofía Arreola Navarro is a Mexican track and road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team Sho-Air TWENTY20. She represented her nation at the 2010 UCI Road World Championships. She competed in the points race event at the 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. At the 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships she won the silver medal in the scratch event and also in the points race.
Jennifer Marie Valente is an American professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team Sho-Air TWENTY20.
Kirsti Lay is a Canadian former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally for UCI Women's Team Rally UHC Cycling between 2016 and 2019. She rode at the 2015 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, winning a bronze medal in the Team Pursuit. In 2016, she was named in Canada's 2016 Olympic team. She won the bronze medal in the team pursuit event.
Stephanie Roorda is a Canadian professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team Sho-Air TWENTY20. She rode at the 2015 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, winning a bronze medal in the Team Pursuit.
Cycling at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Currumbin Beachfront (road), Nerang National Park, both of which are located in the Gold Coast and Anna Meares Velodrome from 5 to 14 April.
