Patrick Goots (born 10 April 1966) is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a striker.
Goots was in the late 1980s, 90s and the beginning of the next decade, one of the best strikers in Belgium. At the level of the first division of the Belgian Pro League he scored a total of 156 goals. He was also remembered for his Ponytail hairstyle. His nickname was "Patje Bats Bats". [1] He played at the highest level in Belgium until the age of 38 and in his last season in the Belgian Pro League he was the top scorer for Antwerp with eight goals. [2] In the 2002–03 season, he scored two goals against Anderlecht in a 2–1 win. [3] [4]
Despite his goal-scoring ability, he never played for the Belgium national team.
In January 2009, Goots signed with fourth-tier side Thes Sport. [5] In March 2009, due to a serious knee injury he was forced to retire and decided to start coaching-career. [6]
When at Antwerp, Goots also played for a pubteam called Kempenzonen. In 2000 they were invited to help out at the Belgian heavy metal festival Graspop Metal Meeting. [7] He stopped tending beer after 20 years of service in 2022. [8]

The Belgian Pro League is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. Contested by 16 clubs from the 2023–24 season onwards, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Challenger Pro League.
Cercle Brugge Koninklijke Sportvereniging is a Belgian professional football club based in Bruges. Cercle have played in the Belgian Pro League since the 2003–04 season, having previously spent several years in the Belgian Second Division following relegation in 1997. Their matricule is the n°12. The club plays home games at the Jan Breydel Stadium, which they share with fierce rivals Club Brugge. Cercle Brugge won their first national title in 1911, and won two more titles before the Second World War. The side also won the Belgian Cup in 1927 and in 1985, and have represented Belgium in European tournaments on several occasions.
Erwin Vandenbergh is a Belgian retired footballer who played as a forward. Between 1979 and 1991, he finished six times topscorer of the Belgian First Division, with three clubs. In 1980, he was European topscorer with 39 goals out of 34 games. As a Belgium national team regular, Vandenbergh scored a memorable victory goal against Argentina in the opening game of the 1982 World Cup in Spain.

Arnór Guðjohnsen is an Icelandic former footballer who played as a striker. He spent seven years with Belgian club Anderlecht and was the top scorer in the 1986–87 season. He is the father of striker Eiður Guðjohnsen and the grandfather of striker Sveinn Aron Guðjohnsen. His younger son, also named Arnór, signed for Swansea City in July 2017, at the age of 16.
Josip Weber, nicknamed Joske, was a Croatian-Belgian professional football forward. He represented Croatia and Belgium at international level.
Francis Severeyns, nicknamed Cisse, is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a striker for Royal Antwerp, Pisa S.C., KV Mechelen, FC Tirol Innsbruck and K.F.C. Germinal Beerschot. He was the Jupiler League top scorer in 1988 with 24 goals. He played seven matches for the Belgium national team. Whilst at Antwerp he helped them to the 1993 European Cup Winners' Cup Final, in which he scored to tie the game at 1–1, although they went on to lose 3–1 to Parma.
Joseph Mermans, usually referred to as Jef Mermans was a football striker from Belgium, who played much of his career at Anderlecht, with whom he won seven Belgian Championship titles and finished top scorer of this competition three times. He played 399 games and scored 367 goals in first division, making him Anderlecht's all time topscorer.
