Paul-Georg Custodis (born 13 January 1940) is a German architect and historic preservationist.

Career

Custodis, Great-great-great-nephew of the royal court architect Max Joseph Custodis  [ de ], was born in Hanover during World War II. [1] The war years and the post-war period overshadowed his childhood. He comes from a Cologne family. [1] From 1959 to 1966, he studied architecture at the Technische Universität Darmstadt. Subsequently, he trained for the higher civil engineering administrative service of the federal state of Nordrhein-Westfalen. [1] [2]

Custodis was head of the planning department of the city of Brühl (Rheinland) from 1969 to 1973. [2] He then held a number of posts at the General Directorate for Cultural Heritage Rhineland-Palatinate from 1973 until his retirement in 2005: research fellow, area officer and finally construction director. [2] In addition, he was the cross-sectional officer for industrial monument conservation there from 1984 to 2005. In this context, he was responsible for the restoration of the Sayner Hütte  [ de ], a former ironworks in Bendorf, for over 10 years. [3] Since 2010, he has been an honorary member of the Friends of the Sayner Hütte.

In 1979, he was awarded a doctorate in engineering from the RWTH Aachen University. The topic of his doctoral thesis was: Der Stadtbaumeister Eduard Kreyßig und die Bauentwicklung der Stadt Mainz in der 2nd Hälfte des 19 Jahrhunderts.

In the course of his life, Custodis was active as an author of scientific articles and reference books and as an amateur painter and draughtsman. [4]

Andernach station

Andernach station is the transportation hub of the city of Andernach in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is a mid-sized station with thousands of passengers each day. It is currently classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 3 station. It has four passenger platforms, three with a length of more than 280 m, and sidings and freight tracks. It is on the Left Rhine line and is the terminus of the Cross Eifel Railway (Eifelquerbahn). In addition to passenger operations, the station has container and freight operations to the east of the station, particularly serving the tin plate manufacturer, Rasselstein.

Rehberg (Wasgau)

The Rehberg is a prominent hill, 576.8 m above sea level (NHN), in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. After the Grand Wintersberg (ca. 581 m) in French North Alsace, the Rehberg is the second highest hill in the Wasgau, the Franco-German region that forms the southern part of the Palatine Forest and runs from the valley of the River Queich to the Col de Saverne. The Rehberg is also the highest hill on German soil in the Wasgau. As part of the Palatine Forest-North Vosges Biosphere Reserve it has been placed under special protection measures.

Imperial Palace, Ingelheim

The Imperial Palace Ingelheim is an important imperial palace erected in the second half of the 8th century in Germany. It served Emperors and Kings as a residence and place for governance until the 11th century. The palatinate complex is located in the cadastral area of Nieder-Ingelheim, 15 km west of Mainz, in district "Im Saal". It is located at a slope with a view of the Rhine plains. Impressive remains of the buildings of the palace have been preserved above ground to this day. The greater part of the complex is located foundation under ground and archaeological excavations have been able to reconstruct the entire system of buildings.

Eveline Lemke German politician

Eveline Lemke is former German politician and member of the Alliance 90/The Greens. From 18 May 2011 until 18 May 2016, she was vice minister president of Rhineland-Palatinate and Minister for Economics, Climate Protection, Energy and Regional Planning. On 27 March 2011, she was elected into the Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate. She was the leading candidate for her party in the 2016 Rhineland-Palatinate state elections along with The Greens faction leader in the Landtag, Daniel Köbler, after having been leader of the party since 2006. As vice minister Lemke represented the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the German Bundesrat. As author and speaker in green technological issues and Circular Economy, she founded Thinking Circular in 2017. This thinktank is listed in the Sustainable Development Goals Help Desk, a platform by the United Nations since July 2018. She is also working as consultant together with Prof. Michael Braungart, chemist and inventor of the design philosophy Cradle-to-Cradle, Martin Lees and David Wortmann (DWR-Eco-Innovation-Alliance).

Gutenbergplatz (Mainz)

Friedrich Uhlhorn German regional historian

Friedrich Uhlhorn was an honorary professor at the Philipps-Universität Marburg, whose scientific focus was on the history of the State of Hesse and was also known for his work outside Hesse. His special scientific interest was mainly focused on the problems of historical cartography. In collaboration with Edmund Ernst Stengel, he published the Geschichtlichen Atlas von Hessen, which is considered his major work. He also wrote the article Die deutschen Territorien. A: The West, which deals with the West German regional history. Likewise he was responsible as editor for the Hessisches Jahrbuch für Landesgeschichte by Bruno Gebhardt.

Gabriele Buschmeier was a German musicologist. From 2012 until her death in 2020, she was Vice President of the Verwertungsgesellschaft Musikedition.

Manfred Werz German civil engineer

Manfred Werz is a German civil engineer and the former president of the Federal Association of Road and Traffic Engineers from 1990 to 1993 and Road Administration Rheinland-Pfalz from 1995 to 1998 in Germany. In 1998, he earned the Wirtschaftsmedaille des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz, a prestigious award and acknowledgement for his work, handed by Rainer Brüderle, Minister of Economics and Transport of Rhineland-Palatinate at the time.

Herbert Dellwing was a German art historian and historic preservationist. He lived and work in Speyer and Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
