Paul Douglas McBlane (died 31 January 2017) was an Australian rugby league referee of the National Rugby League.

McBlane started his first grade career in 1994 in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership. In 1996, in the midst of the Super League war, he was accused of bias against the breakaway teams. [2] [3] He controlled the City vs Country Origin match that year.

In 1998, McBlane was one of the original referees of the new National Rugby League competition, becoming referee number 10. [4]

Death

McBlane died of a heart attack on 31 January 2017, aged 53. [5]

Stephen Prescott was an English professional rugby league footballer who played as a fullback in the 1990s and 2000s.

Paul Ringer is an English-born Welsh dual-code international rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer. He played representative level rugby union (RU) for Wales, and at club level for Ebbw Vale RFC, Llanelli RFC and Leicester, as a flanker, i.e. number 6 or 7. Having turned professional he played representative level rugby league (RL) for Wales, and at club level for Cardiff City (Bridgend) Blue Dragons, as a loose forward, i.e. number 13.

Steve Ganson

Steve Ganson is a former rugby league referee, and current Head of Match Officials and Technical Director with the English Rugby Football League. He is the second professional referee from the town as Premier League referee Chris Foy also hails from St Helens. On 12 April 2013, Ganson retired his whistle to take up the role of Match Officials Coach and Technical Director.

1911–12 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain

The 1911–12 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain was the second ever Kangaroo tour and was actually a tour by an "Australasian" squad including four New Zealand players in addition to twenty-four Australian representatives. It took place over the British winter of 1911–12 and this time, to help promote the game of Rugby league in New Zealand, the Northern Rugby Football Union invited a combined Australian and New Zealand team. They became the first tourists to win the Ashes. and the last to do so on British soil for over half a century. The tour was a success in performance and organisation. Matches were well attended, the squad's touring payments were maintained throughout and the players all shared in a bonus at the tour's end.

David McHugh is a former Irish rugby union referee. McHugh refereed matches at the 1995, 1999 and 2003 Rugby World Cups. In 1996 McHugh refereed the inaugural Heineken Cup final. He would also referee the 2001 final, making him the first referee to take charge of two European Rugby Champions Cup finals. He also refereed in the Celtic League, the Six Nations Championship and the Tri Nations. In 2002, while refereeing a Tri Nations match between South Africa and New Zealand, McHugh was assaulted by a South African fan. After retiring as a referee in 2004, McHugh worked as a referee performance officer and then manager for the Irish Rugby Football Union.

Shayne Hayne Australian former rugby league referee (born 1967)

Kevin John "Shayne" Hayne is an Australian former rugby league referee. He officiated in the National Rugby League, City vs Country Origin, State of Origin series, All Stars Matches, the 2008 World Cup and the 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014 NRL Grand Finals.

Barry Seymour Gomersall (1945–2007) was an Australian rugby league referee. Gomersall refereed six rugby league internationals and nine State of Origin series matches.

Dean Carroll English rugby league footballer
