He received notoriety for firing Norm Macdonald from Saturday Night Live, because Macdonald refused to stop poking fun at his best friend OJ Simpson on Weekend Update while Simpson was on trial for murder; a decision that he was chastised for throughout the balance of his tenure at NBC. The 69th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held on September 9 and 10, and was broadcast by FXX on September 16.
