Paul Warren Rieger QSO JP (born 15 October 1933) is a former New Zealand local-body politician. He served as mayor of Palmerston North from 1985 to 1998, [2] [3] and was a member of the Horizons Regional Council between 1998 and 2019. [4]
Rieger served on the Council of Massey University between 1987 and 2004. [5]
In the 1992 New Year Honours,Rieger was appointed a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for public services. [6]

It is located in the suburb of Milson,on the outskirts of Palmerston North,New Zealand,approximately 5.5 km (3.4ml) NE from the central business district of Palmerston North City. The airport is 100% owned by the Palmerston North City Council and covers an area of 208ha. The airport is New Zealand's 8th busiest and handled a total of 515,727 passengers in the 2016 financial year. The airport handles around 30 commercial passenger flights per day to and from Auckland,Christchurch,Hamilton,Napier,Nelson as well as cargo flights on week nights between Auckland and Christchurch.
Palmerston North is a parliamentary electorate,returning one Member of Parliament to the New Zealand House of Representatives. The electorate was first formed for the 1890 election and was called Palmerston until 1938. The current MP for Palmerston North is Tangi Utikere of the Labour Party. The mayor of Palmerston North is the head of the municipal government of Palmerston North,New Zealand,and presides over the Palmerston North City Council. Robert Edward Burgess is a New Zealand rugby union player and academic. A first five-eighth,Burgess represented Manawatu at a provincial level,and was a member of the New Zealand national side,the All Blacks,from 1971 to 1973. He played 30 matches for the All Blacks including seven internationals. In 1970 Burgess refused nomination for the All Black trials for the tour of South Africa as a protest against that country's apartheid regime,and in 1981 he actively campaigned against the 1981 South African tour of New Zealand.
