The foreign policy of the Netherlands is based on four basic commitments: to the Atlantic cooperation, to European integration, to international development and to international law. While historically the Kingdom of the Netherlands was a neutral state, since 1945 it has become a member of NATO, the United Nations, the European Union and many other international organizations. The Dutch economy is very open and relies on international trade. During and after the 17th century—its Golden Age—the Dutch built up a commercial and colonial empire. It was a leading shipping and naval power and was often at war with England, its main rival. Its main colonial holding was Indonesia, which fought for and achieved independence after 1945. The historical ties inherited from its colonial past still influence the foreign relations of the Netherlands. Foreign trade policy is handled by the European Union. The Dutch have been active in international peacekeeping roles.
The People's Party for Freedom and Democracy is a conservative-liberal political party in the Netherlands. The VVD, whose forerunner was the Freedom Party, is a party of the centre-right, which promotes private enterprise and economic liberalism.

Patrick Stephan Kluivert is a Dutch former football player and coach, former director of La Masia academy at FC Barcelona and former director of football for Paris Saint-Germain in France. Kluivert was the assistant manager of Cameroon. He played as a striker, most notably for AFC Ajax, FC Barcelona and the Netherlands national team.
Giovanni Christiaan van BronckhorstOON, is a Dutch football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers. Formerly a midfielder, he moved to left-back later in his career.
RTL 4 is a Dutch free-to-air television channel; it is the most-watched commercial station in the country, popular especially with those aged between 20 and 49. The Netherlands national football team has represented the Netherlands in international men's football matches since 1905. The national team is controlled by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), the governing body for football in the Netherlands, which is a part of UEFA, and under the jurisdiction of FIFA. They are widely considered one of the best national teams in world football and widely regarded as one of the greatest national teams of all time. Most of the Netherlands' home matches are played at the Johan Cruyff Arena and the Stadion Feijenoord.
Abraham "Bram" van Ojik is Dutch politician and diplomat of the GreenLeft (GL) party and activist. Since 23 March 2017 he has been a member of the House of Representatives. He previously served in the House from 1993 to 1994, and from 2012 to 2015. In the latter three years he also served as leader of GroenLinks. He had also been an Envoy of the Netherlands for human migration since 20 October 2015.
Jan Hendrikus Cornelis van Zanen is a Dutch politician and member of the VVD. Since 1 July 2020, he has been Mayor of The Hague. He previously served as Mayor of Utrecht (2014-2020) and Amstelveen (2005-2013) and national chairperson of the VVD (2003-2008). He has been president of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) since 3 June 2015.
Ferdinand Christoffel "Ferry" Breedveld is a Dutch rheumatologist. He was a professor of internal medicine, specializing in rheumatology, at Leiden University from 1991 to 2015. He served as chair of the board of directors of the Leiden University Medical Center from 2006 to 2015.
