Paul Simm, discovered the piano aged five and mostly self-taught, by eleven was performing regular gigs.
He also took up trumpet, and later, after being approached by David Hinds of Steel Pulse, played and arranged horns for Grammy Award nominated album, Victims .
At twenty Simm, now London based and a full time session musician , played alongside Carleen Anderson, Pops Staples, Mica Paris, Baby D, Charles & Eddie and MC Solar whilst simultaneously working as a studio sound engineer.
He later replaced touring for the studio full-time, working on All Saints' debut album and co-writing and producing tracks for the Sugababes, including BRIT Award nominated single "Overload".
Simm co-wrote Siobhán Donaghy’s top 20 debut single "Overrated" and has written and produced tracks for Amy Winehouse, Neneh Cherry, Mutya Buena, G. Love, Groove Armada, Beverley Knight and Tom Jones.
In 2002, Simm and co-writers McVey, Lipsey and Howard were awarded writing credits by ASCAP for the song "Make Over", which appeared on Christina Aguilera's Stripped, following claims that it borrowed heavily from Sugababes' song "Overload". The track was originally listed as having been written solely by Aguilera and Linda Perry.
Simm has composed for commercials including work for Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Virgin
Simm is a member of band Virgin Souls, along with Cameron McVey, Silvio Pacini and Neil Pearson. The band was signed by Pete Tong to London Records and album 162 was released in September 2003.

The track's B-side, "Looking Good Diving with the Wild Bunch", featured Neneh Cherry on vocals, and was a tribute to the 'buffalo stance', a type of pose.

The single was a top-10 success in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and several European countries. "Manchild" did not chart in the United States or Canada. It was the first song Neneh sat down and wrote. She composed the song on a Casio keyboard, using an auto-chord setting and ended up with 7 chords in the verse alone. Neneh's stepfather Don Cherry commented on this praisingly, comparing it to a jazz song structure. Nellee Hooper did the beat for the song and wrote the rap with Robert Del Naja. Neneh then gave it to Cameron McVey, who helped to shape the song with the parts and "made it make sense".

Blank Project is the fourth studio album by Neneh Cherry, released by Smalltown Supersound on 25 February 2014. The record is Cherry's first album of solo music in 18 years. It was recorded and mixed over a 5-day period in Woodstock, NY. It was produced by Four Tet's Kieran Hebden and features a guest appearance by Robyn. The record also includes work with prior collaborators, synth/drum duo RocketNumberNine. Critical reviews of the album were very positive.
