Paul van der Veen Does (c. 1660 - 16 August 1733,Gorcum) was from 1696 to 1706 governor of Surinam,succeeding Johan van Scharphuizen. The next twenty-five years,until his death,he was a member of the board of the Society of Surinam. [1]
He was the son of Balthasar van der Veen and Susanna Pels. His uncle was Andries Pels,a rich Amsterdam banker and insurer. He married Anna van Gelre,a mayor's daughter from Zierikzee. His brother-in-law was Andries Boxel.[ citation needed ]
Pieter Cramer was a wealthy Dutch merchant in linen and Spanish wool,remembered as an entomologist. Cramer was the director of the Zealand Society,a scientific society located in Flushing,and a member of Concordia et Libertate,based in Amsterdam. Radjindernath "Edu" Nandlal is a Surinamese former professional footballer. During his career,he played for Dutch clubs FC Utrecht,FC Emmen and Vitesse Arnhem. He was one of the footballers that survived the Surinam Airways Flight PY764 air crash in Paramaribo on 7 June 1989,however he was partially paraplegic and was in a wheelchair for 1½years. In 2001,Nandlal started his own cleaning company.

When the Germans introduced identity documents (Persoonsbewijzen) that distinguished between Jews and non-Jews,van der Veen,Arondeus and the printer Frans Duwaer produced some 80,000 false identity papers.
