It is a standalone sequel to the 2015 film Sardaar Ji. On release, the film received mixed reviews, unlike the prequel which received positive reviews. The film grossed less than its prequel and was declared average at Box-Office.

The film starring Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa, follows the story of an average man looking for a bride and what happens when he finally marries a girl who thinks marriage is beautiful. Shadaa also features Hardeep Gill, Anita Devgn, and Jagjeet Sandhu in supporting roles.

The film is set in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and depicts the story of a divorced father, who raised his son on his own. It was released worldwide theatrically on 15 October 2021.
