Pawan Gill is a film producer and filmmaker born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia [1] now based in Mumbai, India. He has his ancestral roots hailing from Ludhiana, Punjab. [2] He is known for producing films like Shadaa, Puaada, [3] Super Singh and Honsla Rakh.

Career

He moved to India in 2005 to pursue a career as a filmmaker after studying filmmaking at Vancouver Film School, [4] he started work as an assistant director with Yashraj Films where he worked for five years on such films like Neal N Nikki and Dhoom 2. Thereafter he branched out on his own as a director with the film Jo Hum Chahein and then went on to produce Mundeyan Ton Bachke Rahin. [2] He and filmmaker Anurag Singh (director) set up their company Brat Films where he has produced Super Singh, [5] Shadaa and Puaada. He co-produced the blockbuster Honsla Rakh [6] with actor Diljit Dosanjh, this is his third film as a producer with the Punjabi actor, [7] their film Shadaa set new box office records in Punjabi cinema. [8] His company's first Hindi language feature film Jersey (2022 film) starring Bollywood superstar Shahid Kapoor produced by his brother Aman Gill released on April 22, 2022. [9]

Personal life

He has a twin brother Aman Gill, who also works in the film industry, he started his career as an executive producer on the film Black. [10] He has produced several Bollywood films including Jersey (2021 film) and Udta Punjab starring Shahid Kapoor amongst many others. [11]

The film starring Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa, follows the story of an average man looking for a bride and what happens when he finally marries a girl who thinks marriage is beautiful. Shadaa also features Hardeep Gill, Anita Devgn, and Jagjeet Sandhu in supporting roles.

Rupinder Kaur Gill, better known as Roopi Gill, is an Indian model and actress who mostly works in the Punjabi Film Industry. She rose to fame with her performance in the music video for the song "Diamond", by Gurnam Bhullar. She started her acting career with Ashke (2018), for which she received a PTC Punjabi Film Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Also, she appeared in the music video of "Stranger" song by Diljit Dosanjh. She has frequently collaborated with Sukh Sanghera for music videos and films. The film is set in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and depicts the story of a divorced father, who raised his son on his own. It was released worldwide theatrically on 15 October 2021.
