Pearl High School is a suburban public high school located in Pearl, Mississippi, United States. It is part of the Pearl Public School District.
Pearl High School was established in 1948 with the construction of a high school building next to the elementary school. Before 1948, Pearl students had to attend high school at Central High School in nearby Jackson. The school's first principal was Mr. L.W. Bright. [3]
Pearl became a city in 1973 and it was at this time that Pearl began the process to withdraw its schools from the Rankin County School District. The Pearl Municipal Separate School District, now known as Pearl Public School District, was finally formed in 1976. [4]
Work began on a new high school in 1987 and classes began in the new school the following year and continue in this location today. The current principal is Dr. Michael Brewer. [5]
A school shooting occurred on October 1, 1997, at the school. The gunman, 16-year-old Luke Woodham, killed two students and injured seven others at the school after killing his mother at their home earlier that morning. [6]
In 1991, Pearl High School was recognized by the United States Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. [7]
Pearl High School has several sports teams. These include football, band, baseball, powerlifting, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, bowling, softball, cheerleading, swim, cross country, tennis, dance, track and field, golf and volleyball. The mascot is a pirate. School colors are Blue & Gold. [8]
Pearl High School has several student clubs and organizations. These include Beta Club, National Junior Historical Society, Choral Music, NJROTC, DECA, Pirate Band, FCCLA, Pirate Connectors, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, Future Educators of America, Super Scholars, International Thespian Society, The Pirate Yearbook, Key Club, The Pirate Speaks Newspaper, National Art Honor Society, Winter Guard, and National Honor Society. East Catholic High School is a private, college preparatory high school located in Manchester, Connecticut, United States, under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Hartford. The parochial school was founded in 1961 and is inspired by the charism of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. East Catholic is the only school in the Archdiocese of Hartford that has had the continued presence of its founding order throughout its history.

Mahtomedi Senior High School is a four-year public high school located in Mahtomedi, Minnesota, United States. The school houses grades 9–12 with a total population of approximately 1,146 students. About 22% of this population are from surrounding districts due to open enrollment. The school colors are blue and gold, and the athletic teams are known as the Zephyrs. The district was created in 1870, and the original high school was built in 1930. In 1970 a new high school building was constructed several miles south east of the original building and this remains the current high school campus. Based on standardized test scores the State of Minnesota has awarded the school a five-star rating, the highest level that can be achieved. In 2006, Newsweek ranked the school #675 in its "List of the 1200 Top High Schools in America." The school has also made adequate yearly progress in compliance with No Child Left Behind standards. As of 2015 the school had a demographic of 91% Caucasian, 2% Black, 2% Asian, 2% Two or more races, 2% Hispanic or Latino, and 1% Native American. Finally, out of the total population, 9% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Mahtomedi competes in the Metro East Conference, having joined that conference at its inception in 2001 soon after being a founding member of the Metro Alliance in 1997. Prior to 1997, Mahtomedi was a member of the Tri-Metro Conference.
