Stellenbosch is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, situated about 50 kilometres east of Cape Town, along the banks of the Eerste River at the foot of the Stellenbosch Mountain. The town became known as the City of Oaks or Eikestad in Afrikaans and Dutch due to the large number of oak trees that were planted by its founder, Simon van der Stel, to grace the streets and homesteads.
Fruit wines are fermented alcoholic beverages made from a variety of base ingredients ; they may also have additional flavors taken from fruits, flowers, and herbs. This definition is sometimes broadened to include any alcoholic fermented beverage except beer. For historical reasons, mead, cider, and perry are also excluded from the definition of fruit wine.
Franschhoek is a small town in the Western Cape Province and one of the oldest towns in South Africa. It was formerly known as Oliphants hoek. It is situated about 75 kilometres (47 mi) from Cape Town, a 45-minute drive away. Kuils River is a town in the Western Cape, South Africa, 25 km east of Cape Town and 20 km west of Stellenbosch at the gateway of the Cape Winelands. It is also the name of the main tributary of the Eerste River, and forms part of the Eastern Suburbs zone of the City of Cape Town.

The family-owned and operated company was founded by Jerry Lohr in 1974. The company operates wineries in San Jose, Paso Robles, and Greenfield, California. The wine regions of South Africa were defined under the "Wine of Origin" act of 1973. Mirroring the French Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) system, all South African wines listing a "Wine of Origin" must be composed entirely of grapes from its region. The "Wine of Origins" (WO) program mandates how wine regions of South Africa are defined and can appear on wine labels. While some aspects of the WO are taken from the AOC, the WO is primarily concerned with accuracy in labeling. As a result, the WO does not place adjunct regulations on wine regions such as delineating permitted varieties, trellising methods, irrigation techniques, and crop yields.
Mooiplaas Wine Estate & Private Nature Reserve is a winery, vineyard and nature reserve situated in the Stellenbosch wine district of the Western Cape in South Africa. The Stellenbosch estate dates back to 1806 when the first owner, Petrus Jacobus Bosman acquired the farm. It was bought in 1963 by Nicolaas and Mercia Roos. Mooiplaas is the Afrikaans translation for 'beautiful farm'.
Dornier Wines, established in 1995, is located at foot of the Stellenbosch Mountains in South Africa's Stellenbosch wine region. The winery is named after the German artist Christoph Dornier; he was the youngest son of aircraft designer Claude Dornier. In 1995 Dornier started the estate by purchasing their first of five farms and the winery has since grown to more than 800 hectares. The land itself has a wine-growing history that dates to the mid 1960s. Since 2006, Dornier has been a member of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative, which contributes to the sustainable cultivation of the vineyards and the protection of the local fynbos. In 2007 Dornier opened their Bodega Restaurant in one of the oldest buildings of Stellenbosch.
Cape May Winery & Vineyard is a winery in Lower Township in Cape May County, New Jersey. It is outside of the North Cape May census-designated place, though sometimes its address is stated as a "North Cape May" address. Patriot-News described it as being in North Cape May.

Distell Group Limited, commonly referred to as Distell, was a multinational brewing and beverage company, based in South Africa. On April 26, 2023, Distell was acquired by Heineken. After that, its operations were integrated into Heineken Beverages, a company created by the merger of its South African unit, Distell, and the African brewery acquired by the Dutch multinational Namibia Breweries.
Ntsiki Biyela is a South African winemaker and businesswoman who runs Aslina wines. Previously, she was head winemaker at Stellekaya Wines, where Biyela became the first black female winemaker in South Africa.
Rooibos wine is a variety of wine in which wood from the rooibos and honeybush plants is used instead of the traditional oak wood during the maturation phase. It has its origin in the Western Cape, South Africa. The wine has a unique flavor component and due to the anti-oxidative effect of the plants can be produced without the use of sulfur dioxide.
Lee Alan Wallis is the South African Head of Emergency Medicine for the Western Cape Government, Professor and Head of the Division of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University, and the founding President of the African Federation for Emergency Medicine.
