Pela was an American indie rock band from Brooklyn known for their intense live performances. [1]
Pela's history goes back to the early ’90s when lead vocalist and guitarist William McCarthy met Christopher Herb. As best friends they worked at a mall together after dropping out of high school, and then traveled around the world together playing music in various cities. Herb and McCarthy began a folk project called Igloo Gazelle in New York City in 2001. In early 2002, Herb had a chance meeting with Eric Sanderson on a subway platform at 7th avenue in Brooklyn where Herb was busking. [2] Sanderson was invited to a practice session and joined the band shortly thereafter.
In late 2002, Herb abruptly moved to Australia for four years. Sanderson & McCarthy soon broke up Igloo Gazelle and teamed with guitarist Nate Martinez. Martinez and Sanderson met as roommates in college (in upstate New York) and played in many bands together both during and after theirs schooling. Both schoolmates are classically trained musicians in multiple genres of music. After a succession of drummers, they found Tomislav Zovich who remained in the band for the duration.
They released a physical EP in 2005 on Brassland label, owned by Brooklyn/Cincinnati band The National, and a download-only EP Exit Columbia Street, in 2006. [3] In 2007 the group signed with independent label Great Society, who released their debut full-length, album, Anytown Graffiti, in April 2007. [4] The group has played with Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, The Decemberists, Norah Jones, Sleater-Kinney, The National, Mission of Burma, Gaslight Anthem, Gossip, Devendra Barnhart, [5] British Sea Power, and Feist. Pela severed ties with Great Society in 2008.
Anytown Graffiti, recorded with Dan Long, was met with wide acclaim and landed itself on over 35 "Best Of" Lists for 2007 including Yahoo! and the KEXP Listeners Poll. As well, in October 2008, Pela's Anytown Graffiti was voted No. 112 in KEXPs countdown of the Top 903 Albums Of All Time.
On September 18, 2009, the band announced on their website and Facebook site that they have broken up citing difficulties with record labels and personal injuries.
Guitarist Martinez now has a solo project named Thieving Irons.
In 2010, singer/songwriter William McCarthy and bassist Eric Sanderson formed a band called Augustines. Due to a trademark conflict, they renamed the band to We Are Augustines and relaunched their website in December 2010. In 2013, they were able to reclaim their original name, Augustines.
Jack Steven Irons is an American drummer. He is the founding drummer of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers and is a former member of Pearl Jam and Eleven.
The Screaming Tribesmen were an Australian rock band formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 1981 by mainstay Mick Medew on lead vocals and lead guitar. With various line-ups they released three studio albums, Bones and Flowers, Blood Lust (1990) and Formaldehyde (1993), before disbanding in 1998. They reformed in 2011 for performances until June 2012. Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, described how they, "fashioned a memorable brand of 1960s-inspired pop rock that combined equal parts existential lyric angst, melodic inventiveness and strident guitar riffs."
Freaky Styley is the second studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released August 16, 1985 on EMI America. Freaky Styley marks founding guitarist Hillel Slovak's studio album debut, following his return to the band earlier in the year. The album is the last to feature drummer Cliff Martinez. Freaky Styley was produced by George Clinton, of Parliament-Funkadelic, and the sessions benefitted from Clinton's chemistry with the band but suffered from the band's drug use during recording.
Voyager One was an American indie rock band from Seattle, Washington formed in 1998. AllMusic compared the band's musical style to the shoegazing music played by Ride, Swervedriver and Catherine Wheel.
Kids in the Way was an American Christian rock band formed in Noblesville, Indiana in 1997. They released three albums on Flicker Records and an unnamed EP in 2010 after which they disbanded. In 2016 they announced they were reuniting under the new name, KIDS.
Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers is the second studio album by indie rock band the National. It was released in 2003 on Brassland Records. This is the first album on which the band worked with Peter Katis, who would produce the band's next albums Alligator and Boxer.

Hoods is a hardcore punk band from Sacramento, California. Formed in 1994 by Mike "Mikey Hood" Mraz who later added Logan Murray, Tony Goodloe and Billy Gaffney. Hoods shows influences such as Madball, Sick of It All, Minor Threat and Cro-Mags. They released their first EP entitled Once Again in 1996 and concentrated on live performances. After numerous fights between fans and an altercation between a couple of the band members and a police officer, the band left the Sacramento area. The band moved to the San Francisco Bay Area playing shows with groups such as Powerhouse, Redemption 87 and Skin Lab. In 1997 after a disagreement with bandmates and his mother's illness Gaffney left and was replaced by Jeremy. Murray and Goldoe then left and were replaced by Ben and Mario.
Cherry Tree is an EP by the American indie rock band The National, released in July 2004. It was reissued on June 28, 2011, by Brassland Records, the same label on which it was originally published.

He is best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and main lyricist of the rock band the Gaslight Anthem, with whom he has recorded five studio albums. He is also a member of the duo the Horrible Crowes alongside the Gaslight Anthem's guitar technician and touring guitarist, Ian Perkins. Since 2016, Fallon has released four solo albums and one EP.

Augustines were known for their intense shows and heavy interaction with the audience. Numerous shows saw the band leave the stage to perform on the floor with the fans.
