Penquis Valley High School is a high school located in Milo, Maine, United States. Founded in 1968 (combining Brownville and Milo High Schools), the school serves students from Milo, Brownville, LaGrange, and Medford and Orneville Township. John Dow is the Principal. The school is accredited by NEASC. [2]
The school's mascot is a patriot and has uniforms with a blue, red, and white color schemes. Penquis has varsity sports teams in soccer, baseball/softball, track, basketball and cheering. The soccer team has experienced much success in the last few years. Athletic Director and former Coach Jason Mills has made an incredible impact on the soccer program at Penquis Valley High School, leading them to the playoffs in the last 5 straight years. Also, the baseball team fought hard for a playoff victory against Foxcroft Academy in the play-in round of the 2014 baseball season. The basketball team has won the Class C State Championship twice. Once in March 2000, with an upset against Boothbay 58–45, and again in March 2013, against BoothBay with a score of 61–54.
Nelson Madore, former mayor of Waterville, Maine and Professor at Thomas College, taught at PVHS from 1967 to 1969. [3]

The Guelph Gryphons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane are the athletic teams that represent the University of Tulsa. These teams are referred to as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Before adopting the name Golden Hurricane in 1922, the University of Tulsa (TU) had many unofficial team nicknames including Kendallites, Presbyterians, Tulsans, Tigers, Orange and Black, and Yellow Jackets. The name "Golden Tornadoes" was chosen by TU football coach H.M. Archer (1922–24) based on new gold and black uniforms and a remark made during practice of the team "roaring through opponents". However, it was quickly discovered that the same name had been chosen in 1917 by Georgia Tech. Archer then substituted the term "hurricane" for "tornado" and a team vote prior to leaving for the game against Texas A&M confirmed the official nickname as "Golden Hurricane".

It is the fifth largest of the Jefferson County Board of Education's fourteen high schools. School colors are garnet and gold, and the athletic teams are called the Indians. Livermore Falls High School was a public high school in Livermore Falls, Maine, United States. It was part of Regional School Unit 36, which included the neighboring town of Livermore. It consolidated with Jay High School in 2011 to form Spruce Mountain High School.
John W. Winkin Jr. was an American baseball coach, scout, broadcaster, journalist and collegiate athletics administrator. Winkin led the University of Maine Black Bears baseball team to six College World Series berths in an 11-year span. In 2007, at age 87, he was the oldest active head coach in any collegiate sport at any NCAA level. In all, 92 of his former players wound up signing professional baseball contracts. Elected to 11 different halls of fame, including the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013, he finished his college baseball coaching career in 2008 with 1,043 total wins, which ranks 52nd all-time among NCAA head coaches. He died in 2014.
