People's Encounter is a 1991 Indian Telugu-language film directed by Mohan Gandhi and starring Vinod Kumar and Bhanupriya. [1] The film is based on the situations in Andhra Pradesh in the early 1990s. It was the debut film of Srikanth. [2]

Plot

At that time, the Peoples War Group (PWG), was an armed guerrilla army against the Government, who support the people who are needy and backwards. The struggle between Peoples War Group and the Government enabled forces like Law, Justice and Police to prevail. The movie was based on some true incidents that happened in the Andhra Pradesh.[ citation needed ].

Upon release, the film received very positive reviews and remained a cult classic, and the soundtrack became all time chart-buster. The government intervened to appoint a Lok Adalat to give speedy justice in this case. Both Yamuna and Vinod were introduced by Ushakiran Movies in this film. The film won two Nandi Awards. A sequel for the film is going to appear as a serial from 4 April 2022 on ETV under the same title

Directed by Mahi V Raghav, the film is based on padayatra of Reddy who served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from May 2004 to June 2009 representing Indian National Congress. The film is produced by Vijay Chilla, Shashi Devi Reddy under 70mm Entertainments and music composed by K. Principal photography commenced on 20 June 2018 in Hyderabad.
