Joseph "Peppi" Azzopardi (born August 25, 1959), from Floriana is a Maltese TV personality, best known for hosting Malta's longest-lasting TV programme and most popular talk show Xarabank from 1997 to 2020 every Friday evenings in Television Malta. He also hosts L-Istrina, a yearly telethon programme, televised every Boxing Day across the three main terrestrial TV stations in Malta. Azzopardi is also a founder of the TV production company "Where's Everybody". [1] [2] [3]

<i>Xarabank</i> Maltese talk show

Xarabank was a prime time talk show produced by Where's Everybody that aired every Friday on the Maltese national television station TVM, till 2020. The show was presented by Peppi Azzopardi, and later by Mark Laurence Zammit. Various topics are discussed, from politics to hobbies.

Peppi is a female Finnish name. Originally it may have been derived from Filippa, but its popularity in the 2000s is explained by Astrid Lindgren's character Pippi Longstocking. As of 2015 the name has been given to 2,796 people. The name was added to the almanac in 2010, with a name day on 1 April.

Frederick Zammit is a television scriptwriter, presenter and executive from Malta. He has acted as Head of Programmes for Net TV and is the writer of Malta's most popular TV series Santa Monika, which was screened between October 2005 and March 2006. The second series has been aired from October 2006, with a third scheduled for October 2007. A cinema version of the show was produced in 2009. He also wrote the drama series F’Salib it-Toroq.

Television Malta is a terrestrial television network in Malta operated by the national broadcaster, Public Broadcasting Services. Alongside the main TVM station, PBS operates TVMNews+ and TVMSport+.

<i>Strada Stretta</i> Maltese TV series or program

Strada Stretta was a Maltese television series that aired on Television Malta between 2015 and 2017. The first episode was released on September 28, 2015 and from the start it generated a nostalgic feeling among the Maltese. As the name implies the setting of the series took place in Strada Stretta, a historic street in Valletta, the capital of Malta. The series takes the viewers to the social and historical realities of 1957, with a plot based on the incidents recorded on a diary that was found in 2015 during refurbishing works on a pub in the eponymous street. The actual setting is based on history books, while the story of this series is based on contextual creativity. Statistics show that approximately 112,000 Maltese people watched the series, which is approximately a quarter of the entire population of Malta.

The competition consisted of a semi-final round, a special show and a final, held on 17, 18 and 19 February 2022, respectively, where "Out of Sight" performed by Muscat eventually emerged as the winning entry after scoring the most points from a six-member jury and a public televote. On 14 March 2022, PBS announced that Muscat would ultimately perform "I Am What I Am" in Turin; the song was released to the public on the same day.
