The Per Artem ad Deum medal (Eng. Through Arts to God) annual award presented by the Pontifical Council for Culture in recognition of the achievements which contribute to the promotion of dialogue between the diversity of cultures in the contemporary world and thus promote man as an individual. [1]
The Medal Chapter comprises: Reverend Bishop Marian Florczyk - the Chapter Chairman, Andrzej Mochoń PhD, Professor Konrad Kucza-Kuczyński and the previous years' laureates: Tomasz Furdyna, Dobrosław Bagiński PhD. The Per Artem ad Deum Medal has been presented at the International Exhibition of Church Construction, Church Fittings and Furnishings and Religious Art Sacroexpo held in Targi Kielce exhibition centre located in Kielce, Poland. The Medal is awarded at a special gala ceremony. The medal laureates are presented the distinction by the Chapter members and the church high-ranking dignitaries; twice—in 2009 and 2012—the Medal was handed by the President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi. [11] In the case of Stefan Stuligrosz and Ennio Morricone, the Medal Medal awarding ceremony gained extra splendour owing to live concert of the Świętokrzyskie Philharmonic Orchestra and Cracow Philharmonic Choir performing the new version of the Tra Cielo e Terra dedicated to John Paul II. Krzysztof Eugeniusz Penderecki was a Polish composer and conductor. His best-known works include Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima, Symphony No. 3, his St Luke Passion, Polish Requiem, Anaklasis and Utrenja. His oeuvre includes five operas, eight symphonies and other orchestral pieces, a variety of instrumental concertos, choral settings of mainly religious texts, as well as chamber and instrumental works.
Wojciech Kilar was a Polish classical and film music composer. One of his greatest successes came with his score to Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1992, which received the ASCAP Award and the nomination for the Saturn Award for Best Music. In 2003, he won the César Award for Best Film Music written for The Pianist, for which he also received a BAFTA nomination. In 2012, he became the recipient of Poland's highest distinction, the Order of the White Eagle.

The Kielce Ghetto was a Jewish World War II ghetto created in 1941 by the Schutzstaffel (SS) in the Polish city of Kielce in the south-western region of the Second Polish Republic, occupied by German forces from 4 September 1939. Before the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939, Kielce was the capital of the Kielce Voivodeship. The Germans incorporated the city into Distrikt Radom of the semi-colonial General Government territory. The liquidation of the ghetto took place in August 1942, with over 21,000 victims deported to their deaths at the Treblinka extermination camp, and several thousands more shot, face-to-face.
