The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, was the tenth Olympic Championship, also serving as the 31st World Championships and the 42nd European Championships. The games were held at the Olympiahalle Innsbruck.

The Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal is an annual award "for the most significant Swedish sports achievement of the year". According to its statutes the Medal may be awarded in November or December to either an individual sportsperson or a team. An individual can be awarded the Medal no more than twice, and to receive a second medal, that athlete must be "regarded a class of his own".
Irma Elina Johansson is a former Swedish cross-country skier. She competed at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics in the 3 × 5 km relay and 10 km events and won two medals in the relay, with a gold in 1960 and a bronze in 1956. Individually she finished in 7–8th place.

He represented his country at the 1980 Winter Olympics and placed 14th. A competitor at multiple World and European Championships, he finished in the top ten at the 1980 Europeans in Gothenburg.
Bror Albert Öberg was a Swedish athlete who competed at the 1912 Summer Olympics. In Stockholm he participated in the men's 10000 metres event, but was eliminated in the semi-finals after placing sixth, the only competitor to finish the race but not advance to the final. He was born in Härnösand and was a member of IFK Härnösand. He died in Gävle in 1990 at the age of 101.

Hans Andreas "Stöveln" Öberg was a Swedish ice hockey and bandy player. He represented his country at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, winning the bronze medal in the team competition. He also played on the Swedish team that finished fourth in the competition four years later at the 1956 Cortina d'Ampezzo Olympics. He was the brother of future Olympic silver medallist Carl-Göran Öberg. He played club hockey for Gävle Godtemplares IK, with whom he won the Guldpucken award in 1957, a year after his 1952 international teammate Åke Lassas. Öberg also played football and bandy, and won the Swedish bandy championship in 1959 with Skutskärs IF.

Elvira Karin Öberg is a Swedish biathlete. She is the younger sister of Olympic champion Hanna Öberg. Elvira won three gold medals in the youth category at the 2018 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Otepää; in the 10 km individual, the 3 × 6 km relay and the 6 km sprint respectively. Öberg placed twelfth in the sprint in her Biathlon World Cup debut in Östersund, 1 December 2019. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022 she won the silver medal in the sprint race, following up with a silver in the pursuit.
The Women's relay competition of the Beijing 2022 Olympics was held on 16 February, at the National Biathlon Centre, in the Zhangjiakou cluster of competition venues, 180 kilometres (110 mi) north of Beijing, at an elevation of 1,665 metres (5,463 ft). Linn Persson, Mona Brorsson, Hanna Öberg, and Elvira Öberg of Sweden won the event, with the Russian Olympic Committee winning the silver medal, and Germany bronze. This was the first Olympic gold in women's relay for Sweden.
