What Not to Wear is an American makeover reality television series based on the British show of the same name. The show premiered on January 18, 2003 and ended on October 18, 2013, airing on TLC in the United States. What Not to Wear was hosted by Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, though London’s Season 1 co-host was Wayne Scot Lukas. Also part of the show was head makeover artist Carmindy and hairstylist Nick Arrojo from season 1 through season 6. Celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson replaced Arrojo beginning in season 7, through season 10.
Pegah Anvarian, also known as Pegah Anvarian Watson, is an Iranian-born American fashion designer, fashion stylist, creative director, and interior designer. She had her fashion design label from 2005 until the spring of 2008. Her design work has shown at Los Angeles Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week. Anvarian worked as the creative director for the Three Dots fashion label, starting in 2009. Starting in 2014, she is the creative director of Poetry & Prose fashion label.

The term haute couture is French, "haute" meaning "high" or "elegant," and "couture" translating to "sewing" or "dressmaking." The term haute couture generally refers to a specific type of upper garment common in Europe during the 16th to the 18th century, or to the upper portion of a modern dress to distinguish it from the skirt and sleeves. Beginning in the mid-nineteenth century, Paris became the centre of a growing industry that focused on making outfits from high-quality, expensive, often unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable of sewers—often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques. Couture translates literally from French as "dressmaking", sewing, or needlework and is also used as a common abbreviation of haute couture and can often refer to the same thing in spirit.

The aim is to have an outfit suitable for any occasion without owning excessive items of clothing. This is usually achieved by buying what are considered to be "key" or "staple" items in coordinating colours. June Ambrose is an Antiguan-born American stylist, costume designer, author, creative director, influencer, and TV host. She is currently the creative director of women's basketball for Puma (brand). Ambrose is best known for styling prominent hip hop and rhythm and blues artists in high fashion pieces and was one of the first designers to do so, most notably for artists such as Missy Elliott and Jay-Z in popular 1990s music videos. Ambrose was born in Antigua in 1971 and grew up in The Bronx. She attended Talent Unlimited High School and after graduation worked for a brief period in investment banking before interning at MCA Records where she began styling new artists. Ambrose has designed for over 200 music videos and was the costume designer for the 1998 film Belly and a stylist on The X Factor. She published her book, Effortless Style, in 2006 and in 2012 hosted her own reality television show on VH1. Ambrose was hired at Puma in 2020 and in December 2021 released her first fashion line, High Court, which is also the first-ever women's basketball clothing line released by the company.
