Pete Boone is the former athletics director (AD) for the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).
Boone is a 1972 graduate of the University of Mississippi and a native of Grenada, Mississippi. Boone served as Ole Miss AD from 2002 to 2012, his second stint as AD having served previously from 1995 to 1998 before stepping down from his position as Athletics Director to help start The Business Bank of Baton Rouge. During his tenure tremendous strides have been made in the improvement of athletic facilities. Under Boone as Director of Athletics, Ole Miss has experienced continued growth from adding sports to his overseeing in excess of $140 million in athletics improvements.
He also represented Ole Miss and the Southeastern Conference on a number of regional and NCAA committees. In August 2008, Boone was elected Chairman of the SEC Athletics Directors Committee.
Under Boone Ole Miss football went 80-80 overall and 38-68 in SEC play. During his tenure, Ole Miss teams claimed 20 SEC Western Divisional titles and 7 overall SEC championships. In 2010, Ole Miss men's athletics finished 1st among the Western division teams and 2nd overall in the annual SEC All-Sports standings.

Boone is the former CEO and President of the $2.8 billion Sunburst Bank which was acquired by Union Planters Bank in 1994. Between 1998 and 2002, he was instrumental in starting The Business Bank of Baton Rouge, which was acquired by BancorpSouth in 2003.

He led the 2019 LSU Tigers football team to a national championship, beating the defending champions Clemson in the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Jerry Lane Stovall is a former American football player, coach, and college athletics administrator. He played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he was a unanimous selection to the 1962 College Football All-America Team as a halfback. Stovall played professionally as a defensive back and punter in the National Football League (NFL) with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1963 to 1971. Stovall served as the head football coach at his alma mater, LSU, from 1980 to 1983, compiling a record of 22–21–2 in four seasons and leading the 1982 team to an appearance in the 1983 Orange Bowl. He was the athletic director at Louisiana Tech University from 1990 to 1993. He is the only player in LSU history to be named a Unanimous All-American (1962), be selected to the college football hall of fame (2010), be selected as a first round pick (1963), and to be selected to the pro bowl.

John Stroud is an American former basketball player and coach who played four years at the University of Mississippi, before being drafted by the Houston Rockets in the second round of 1980 NBA Draft as their first pick. Following his playing career Stroud coached for 32 years at various levels.
The Magnolia Bowl is the LSU–Ole Miss football rivalry. It is an American college football rivalry game played annually by the LSU Tigers football team of Louisiana State University (LSU) and the Ole Miss Rebels football team of the University of Mississippi. The teams compete for the Magnolia Bowl Trophy. The Tigers and the Rebels first met in 1894, and have been regular opponents in Southeastern Conference (SEC), meeting annually, without interruption, since 1945. The rivalry was at its height during the 1950s and 1960s, when both teams were highly ranked and during which time both teams claimed a national championship. The rivalry died down from the 1970s to the 1990s, owing to Ole Miss not returning to conference or national prominence since the 1970s and because LSU has seen new rivalries emerge when the SEC split into two divisions in 1992, most notably Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, and Florida. Even though the rivalry has not attracted the same national attention in recent years, it still stirs up passion in both Oxford and Baton Rouge.
The Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team represents the University of Mississippi in the sport of basketball. The Rebels compete in the NCAA Division I and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They started the 2015–16 season playing home games at Tad Smith Coliseum on the university's Oxford campus, but played their final game in that facility on December 22, 2015. The Rebels opened a new on-campus arena, The Pavilion at Ole Miss, on January 7, 2016. The Rebels were led by 12-year head coach Andy Kennedy until his resignation on February 18, 2018. Tony Madlock, an assistant under Kennedy, served as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2017–18 season. On March 15, 2018, the school hired former Middle Tennessee head coach Kermit Davis as the new head coach, and was formally introduced on March 19.

They finished the season 9–3, 5–3 in SEC play to finish in a tie for third place in the Western Division. They were invited to the Texas Bowl where they defeated Texas Tech.

Miles was replaced by interim head coach Ed Orgeron, who was later promoted to head coach on November 26, 2016. They finished the season 8–4, 5–3 in SEC play to finish in a tie for second place in the Western Division. They were invited to the Citrus Bowl where they defeated Louisville.
