A semi-automatic rifle is an auto-loading rifle that fires a single round of ammunition each time the trigger is pulled. It uses part of the fired cartridge's energy to eject the case and automatically loads another cartridge into its chamber. This is in contrast to bolt-action or lever-action rifles,which require the user to manually chamber a new round before they can fire again,and fully automatic rifles which fire continuously while the trigger is held down.

Brady:United Against Gun Violence is an American nonprofit organization that advocates for gun control and against gun violence. It is named after former White House press secretary James "Jim" Brady,who was permanently disabled and later died in 2014 as a result of the Ronald Reagan assassination attempt of 1981,and his wife Sarah Brady,who was a chairwoman of the organization from 1989 until her death in 2015.
A gunsmith is a person who repairs,modifies,designs,or builds guns. The occupation differs from an armorer,who usually replaces only worn parts in standard firearms. Gunsmiths do modifications and changes to a firearm that may require a very high level of craftsmanship,requiring the skills of a top-level machinist,a very skilled woodworker,and even an engineer. Gunsmiths perform factory-level repairs and renovations to restore well-used or deteriorated firearms to new condition. They may make alterations to adapt sporting guns to better fit the individual shooter that may require extensive modifications to the firearm's stocks and metal parts. Repairs and redesigns may require fabrication and fitting of unavailable parts and assemblies constructed by smiths themselves. Gunsmiths may also renew metal finishes or apply decorative carvings or engravings to guns. Many gun shops offer gunsmithing service on the premises.

In February 2018,a boycott emerged against the U.S. gun rights advocacy group National Rifle Association of America (NRA) and its business affiliates. The boycott and social media activism campaign arose in the aftermath of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland,Florida. The NRA was criticized for its response,including its recommendation for schools to arm teachers and opposition to bans on certain weapons. Calls for companies to sever their ties to the NRA resulted in several companies discontinuing their business relationships with the NRA and cancelling discount programs offered to NRA members. The boycott extended to Canada where Mountain Equipment Co-op and the Running Room cut supplier relationships with Vista Outdoor. Public pressure also caused a number of gun retailers to increase the age required to buy firearms and place other restrictions on gun sales.

The company that owned the website also manufactured AR-15 rifles and was founded in 1996 by Edward Avila,who moved it from Farmington,New York,to Texas after passage of the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act in 2013.
