William Peter Waite (known as Pete Waite) is an American volleyball coach and author, and is a former head coach for the women's volleyball team at Wisconsin.
Waite is a graduate of Monona Grove High School in Madison, Wisconsin. [1] He attended Ball State University from 1977–81 and was a volleyball player there. Waite received All-MIVA honors his junior and senior years, and was named team co-captain and co-MVP in 1980. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Ball State in 1981.
He started his coaching career in 1981 at Northside High School in Muncie, Indiana and spent the next year as a junior varsity coach at his alma mater, Monona Grove High School. Waite also coached one year at Bremen High School in Midlothian, Illinois.
Waite was the head coach at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois, leading the Cyclones to the 1985 North Central Community College Conference championship. Waite was named the conference coach of the year in 1985.
Waite was the assistant coach of Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.
Waite was the head coach at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, where he was the winningest volleyball coach in program history. He had an 11-year record of 266–102. NIU appeared in four NCAA tournaments under Waite.
NIU won eight regular-season conference titles and six conference tournaments under Waite. Individually, Waite coached four AVCA all-region players, four conference players of the year, 14 first-team all-conference honorees, one conference newcomer of the year and four members of the conference all-newcomer team
Waite is the all-time winningest volleyball coach in UW history, both in number of wins and winning percentage. Waite's teams made nine straight NCAA tournament appearances before missing the 2008 NCAA Tournament, snapping the streak. [2]
Under Waite, Wisconsin has won two Big Ten titles (2000 and 2001) and finished as NCAA National Runners-up to Nebraska.
At Wisconsin, Waite has coached 11 All-Americans, 17 AVCA All-Region first-team selections, two Big Ten Players of the Year and 20 first-team All-Big Ten honorees.
On November 26, 2012, Waite announced his resignation as head coach.
The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball team is a NCAA Division I women's volleyball team for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. They are a member of the Big West Conference and are led by head coach, Robyn Ah M, Mow-Santos. The Rainbow Wahine volleyball program remains a large source of financial income for the University of Hawaii athletic department, notwithstanding even what football and men's basketball generates.
Russell David Rose is an American former volleyball coach who was the women's volleyball coach at Penn State University from 1979 to 2021. His lifetime head coaching record is 1330–229, which ranks first in NCAA Division I history. He has the most wins and highest winning percentage of any Penn State intercollegiate athletic coach in Penn State history.

John G. Cook is an American volleyball coach who is the head coach of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team. Having coached at Nebraska for 25 seasons, he has led the Huskers to four national championships, in 2000 by defeating Wisconsin, in 2006 by defeating Stanford, in 2015 by defeating Texas, and in 2017 by defeating Florida. He is a three-time winner of the AVCA National Coach of the Year award. Prior to becoming head coach at Nebraska, Cook served as head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers, compiling a 161–73 record over seven seasons. On Sept. 23, 2022, he earned his 800th career coaching win, a feat only 29 other coaches in NCAA volleyball history have achieved.
Jim McLaughlin is an American volleyball coach. He was most recently the head coach of the women's volleyball team at Notre Dame. McLaughlin was selected to be inducted into AVCA Hall of Fame in 2021.
The Wisconsin Badgers women's volleyball is the volleyball team representing the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the NCAA Division I women's program. The university has a rich volleyball tradition, with origins dating back to 1974. They won a national title in 2021. They have had eleven head coaches since the team's inception. In the 2021 season, they ranked second in attendance among all Division 1 volleyball programs, averaging 7,540 fans over 15 regular season matches.
The Penn State Nittany Lions women's volleyball program has had a long tradition, founded in 1976 by Tom Tait, long-time coach of the Penn State men's team, who coached the women's team from 1976 to 1979 and was named a USA Volleyball All-Time great coach in 2007.
Megan Hodge Easy is an American indoor volleyball player who won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics with the US team and played for Pennsylvania State University's volleyball team. Currently, she plays in Brazilian team Itambé-Minas.
The Texas Longhorns women's volleyball team represents The University of Texas at Austin in NCAA Division I intercollegiate women's volleyball competition. The Longhorns competed in the Big 12 Conference through the 2023 season and moved to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) on July 1, 2024.
Michael Robert Hebert was an American volleyball coach. He is considered to be one of the "architects" of modern high-competitive professional volleyball. Hebert coached the Pittsburgh (1976–1979) men and women teams, New Mexico (1980–1982) women's team, Illinois (1983–1995) women's team, and Minnesota (1996–2010) women's team before announcing his retirement at the conclusion of the 2010 season.
Pittsburgh Panthers women's volleyball is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate volleyball program of the University of Pittsburgh, often referred to as "Pitt", located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pitt volleyball team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and plays their home games in Fitzgerald Field House. Since the founding of the volleyball program in 1974, the Panthers have had a winning season all but four years, have one of the nation's top all-time winning percentages, have appearanced in 22 national championship tournaments, and have won conference championships in 16 different seasons including eleven as a member of the Big East Conference and five since joining the ACC.
The Ohio State Buckeyes women's volleyball is one of the 19 women's varsity teams at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes are part of the Big Ten Conference. The team has been coached by Jen Flynn Oldenburg since 2020. Founded and played their first year in 1971, first playing in St. John Arena, Ohio State plays their home games in the Covelli Center.
The Stanford Cardinal women's volleyball team represents Stanford University in the Pac-12 Conference. They are currently led by head coach Kevin Hambly and play their home games at Maples Pavilion. The team has won nine NCAA national championships, the most of all time, and 24 regular season conference titles. They have finished as national runner-up eight times and appeared in the first 39 NCAA tournaments, failing to qualify for the postseason for the first time during the 2020–2021 season. In January 2017, John Dunning retired as head coach of Stanford volleyball. The school named Kevin Hambly as the new head coach. Hambly came from the University of Illinois and 2017 was his first season with the Cardinal.

The Northern Illinois Huskies women's volleyball team is the college volleyball team that represent Northern Illinois University (NIU) in DeKalb, Illinois, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The Huskies are coached by Ray Gooden.
The Michigan State Spartans women's volleyball team was founded in 1972. They play home matches at the Breslin Center, which they moved to in 2022 after playing at Jenison Fieldhouse.
Dana Lynn Rettke is an American professional volleyball player for Eczacıbaşı Dynavit in the Turkish Sultanlar Ligi. She played collegiate volleyball at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is the first five-time AVCA First Team All American in collegiate history. Rettke was also a member of the U.S. national team and has won All-Big Ten honors in each of her five college seasons, was the 2019–20 Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year and the 2021-2022 winner of the Honda Sports Award for women's volleyball.
John Craig Skinner, known as Craig Skinner, is an American collegiate women's volleyball head coach at the University of Kentucky. He is the winningest coach in Kentucky volleyball history and led Kentucky to their first-ever NCAA volleyball national championship in 2020.
Katie Anne Schumacher-Cawley is an American former volleyball and basketball player who is the head coach of the Penn State women's volleyball team. After serving as the associate head coach since 2018, she was named head coach on January 10, 2022, following Russ Rose's retirement from coaching.
