The Mutual Association of Eastern Colored Clubs,more commonly known as the Eastern Colored League (ECL),was one of the several Negro leagues,which operated during the time organized baseball was segregated.
The first Negro National League (NNL) was one of the several Negro leagues that were established during the period in the United States when organized baseball was segregated. The league was formed in 1920 with former player Rube Foster as its president.

Ira James Flagstead,sometimes known as "Pete",was an American baseball player. He played 15 years of professional baseball,principally as an outfielder,including 13 years in Major League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers,Boston Red Sox (1923–1929),Washington Senators (1929),and Pittsburgh Pirates (1929–1930). In 1,218 major league games,Flagstead compiled a .290 batting average with a .370 on-base percentage.
Elmer John Smith was an American professional baseball outfielder who played in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians,Washington Senators (1916–17),Boston Red Sox (1922),New York Yankees (1922–23),and Cincinnati Reds (1925).
King Solomon "Sol" White was an American professional baseball infielder,manager and executive,and one of the pioneers of the Negro leagues. An active sportswriter for many years,he wrote the first definitive history of black baseball in 1907. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.
Howard Samuel Shanks was an American professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1912 to 1925 for the Washington Senators,Boston Red Sox,and New York Yankees.
Merven John "Red" Ryan,born Mervin Ferguson,was an American baseball pitcher in the Negro leagues. He played from 1915 to 1932 with several teams,playing mostly with the Hilldale Club.
Harry Rupert "Big Jeff" Jefferson was an American football,basketball,and baseball coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Wilberforce University (1923),Bluefield State College,North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (1930–1931),Virginia State University (1934–1948),Hampton University (1949–1959),compiling a career college football coaching record of 173–92–25. Jefferson led his teams to black college football national championships in 1927,1928,and 1936. Jefferson was the first chairman and charter member of the National Athletic Steering Committee (NASC) in 1951. Later,Jefferson served as president of the NASC in 1957 and was honorary president in 1959. Jefferson was also honored by the NASC in 1958 for 35 years "contributed to the development of youth through athletic coaching and administration." Jefferson was also the first commissioner of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in 1961. In college,he was a founding member of the Phi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha at Ohio University. Jefferson died of a heart attack,on April 24,1966,at Mercy Douglas Hospital in Philadelphia. His funeral was held at Arlington National Cemetery.
Edward Rile,nicknamed "Huck",was an American Negro league pitcher and first baseman who played for several teams from 1918 to 1936.
Arthur Chambers,nicknamed "Rube",was an American Negro league pitcher in the 1920s.
Alexander C. Albritton was an American baseball pitcher in the Negro leagues. He played with multiple teams from 1918 to 1925.
Milton Lewis,nicknamed "Red",was a Negro league second baseman in the 1920s.
Harry G. "Wu Fang" Ward was an American college and professional athlete in the 1920s and 1930s.
John Peter Roepke was an American football halfback who played one season in the National Football League (NFL) for the Frankford Yellow Jackets as well as four seasons in minor leagues with the Atlantic City Tornadoes,Clifton Heights Orange &Black,Upper Darby Greenbacks,and Paterson Night Hawks. A native of New Jersey,he attended Penn State University,playing football,baseball,and basketball before graduating in 1928. He was selected to the College Football All-America Team following his senior season of 1927. Roepke also briefly played professional baseball for the Scranton Miners in 1928.
John W. Moore was an American multi-sport athlete. He was a Negro league infielder in the late 1920s while also playing professional basketball and semi-professional football.
Frank "Lefty" Stevens was an American pitcher and outfielder who played for several Negro league baseball teams throughout the 1920s and early 1930s.
