Peter Minnema better known by his ring name Pete Wilson [5] (born December 15, 1985) [5] is a Canadian professional wrestler. [7] He is best known for his time in Stampede Wrestling where he held several titles, including the Stampede International Tag Team Championship which he held three times.

Professional wrestling career

Wilson was trained by the Hart family and debuted in 2001 in Eric Bischoff's MatRats promotion. [3] [5] He also wrestled at Stu Hart's 88th Birthday Celebration show on May 2, 2003. [5]

Stampede Wrestling (2003–2008)

He joined Stampede Wrestling under the ring name "Pistol" Pete Wilson and was billed as the younger brother of TJ Wilson. [8] He later changed his ring name to "Pyro" Pete Wilson and formed a tag team with Phoenix Taylor known as "Fast and Furious". On June 17, 2005, Wilson defeated Gama Singh, Jr. and Dandy Myers in a three-way match to win the vacant British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Championship. [3] [9] On November 4, 2005, Wilson teamed with "Ravenous" Randy Myres to defeat the New Karachi Vice (Singh, Jr. and Tiger Raj Singh) for the International Tag Team Championship, making Wilson a double champion. [3] [5] [10] After successful title defenses against Harry Smith and TJ Wilson, and Dusty Adonis and Blanco Negro Dragon, they lost the titles on December 16, 2005, when Karachi Vice defeated them. [5] After losing the tag team titles, Myres and Wilson split as a team and began feuding throughout March and April 2006. [5] [11] Wilson gained three victories over Myres, including one by disqualification, and one in a tables match. [5] [12] [13] He later dropped the British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Championship to Myres on May 26, 2006, after holding it for nearly a year. [9] [14] On July 28, 2006, Wilson won the International Tag Team Championship for the second time, with Juggernaut, by defeating Duke Durrango and Chris Steele. [10] Wilson, however, received a legitimate injury in November 2006, and could not compete, so TJ Wilson replaced him as one half of the tag team champions. [10]

Wilson returned to Stampede on September 7, 2007, as a heel, defeating Brady Roberts. After the match, he went on a leave of absence, before returning on November 16, 2007, to defeat Scotty "The Body" Putty. He continued to appear in Stampede throughout 2008, losing to Teddy Hart on February 15 at My Bloody Valentine. He also competed against Chucky Blaze, and at Carnage In Acadia on April 26, the match went to a no contest, after Blaze performed his finishing move on Wilson through a table.

Hart Legacy Wrestling

Wilson is part of the Hart Legacy Wrestling promotion. [15] [16] During the "Resurrection" event in 2013 he suffered a shoulder injury and was rushed to the ER. [17]

Canadian Wrestling's Elite

Wilson wrestled for the promotion Canadian Wrestling's Elite during 2016, [18] he performed as a tag-team named Armed & Dangerous with “Dynamite” Dan Myers, they debuted in the main event of CWE's first event in Calgary against “Dungeon Master” Johnny Devine and "Hotshot" Danny Duggan. [19] In August 2017 they had a match together with Matt Hart against Silas Young, Tony Kozina and The Big Chief which was a tribute match to Matt's father Smith Hart who died in July. [20] [21]

Personal life

Minnema is married to Brooke Hart-Minnema, granddaughter of Stu Hart and the daughter of Alison Hart and Ben Bassarab. Minnema and Hart met each other when he was wrestling for her uncles Bruce and Ross Hart's incarnation of Stampede Wrestling. [22] [23] Minnema is a trainer at the Hart family's school, Dungeon Discipline Professional Wrestling School. [24]

He is the son of Georgia Hart of the Hart wrestling family and wrestler B. J. Annis. He is also the nephew of former professional wrestlers, Bret Hart and Owen Hart. Stampede Wrestling was a Canadian professional wrestling promotion based in Calgary, Alberta. For nearly 50 years, it was one of the main promotions in western Canada and the Canadian Prairies. Originally established by Stu Hart in 1948, the promotion competed with other promotions such as NWA All-Star Wrestling and Pacific Northwest Wrestling and regularly ran events in Calgary's Victoria Pavilion, Ogden Auditorium and the Stampede Corral between 1948 and 1984. Bought out by promoter Vince McMahon, the company was briefly run by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) before being sold back to the Hart family the following year. Run by Bruce Hart until January 1990, he and Ross Hart reopened the promotion in 1999 and began running events in the Alberta area.

Gadowar Singh Sahota ; born December 8, 1954) is an Indo-Canadian semi-retired professional wrestler known as Gama Singh and Great Gama Sahota was a villainous mainstay and top attraction in Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling in Calgary for much of the 1970s and 1980s. Sahota also wrestled internationally in Japan, South Africa, Germany, Kuwait, Dubai, Oman, Australia, the United States and the Caribbean. He also worked sporadically, mostly on overseas tours, for Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1980 to 1986. His nephew is former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. Singh made a brief comeback of sorts in 2018, when he signed with Impact Wrestling as the manager for a stable of Indian wrestlers known as the Desi Hit Squad, but quietly left in 2020.

Daniel Kroffat is a Canadian retired professional wrestler. He is best known for his appearances with Stampede Wrestling in the 1960s and 1970s, where he invented the ladder match.

Hubert Gallant is a Canadian retired professional wrestler and trainer who competed in North American regional promotions during the 1970s and early 1980s including Stampede Wrestling and Emile Dupree's Grand Prix Wrestling as well short stints in the National Wrestling Alliance, specifically the Mid-South and Carolinas regions. Among the wrestlers he trained are "Wildman" Gary Williams and Hangman Hughes.

Tony Kozina is an American professional wrestler who is best known for his work in the Pacific Northwest especially in Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling and National Wrestling Alliance. He has also made appearances in Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Full Impact Pro, IWA-Mid South, World Wrestling Entertainment and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Although he is of Italian descent, Ventura had most of his success portraying an Indian under the ring name (Chief) Joe Lightfoot. He spent the majority of the 1970s competing in Canada for Stampede Wrestling and NWA All-Star Wrestling and the majority of the 1980s competing in the United States, primarily throughout the National Wrestling Alliance, where he is a former NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion.

John Fotie was a Canadian professional wrestler and a painter, better known by his ring name, John Foti. He was best known in Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling in Calgary from 1955 to 1969. He also wrestled in the American Wrestling Association and National Wrestling Alliance.
