Peter J. Coleman is an American competitive sailor. Peter and his brothers Paul Coleman and Gerard grew up in Larchmont, New York [1] close to Horseshoe Harbour and entered into sailing as Team Coleman. [2]
Peter and Paul were both students at New York Maritime College, and after competing in the 1976 Olympic trials for 470, teamed up with Gerard in the Soling. [1] Coleman has competed in the J/24, Soling and Etchells classes. [3] [4]
Peter is named in the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association Hall of Fame. [5] He is a North American Champion, and, with his brothers Paul and Gerard, has missed qualifying for the Olympics five separate times. He competed with Paul in the United States Sailing Championship at the 1983 Mallory Cup, and won the gold medal. [6] [7]
The Harvard Crimson is the nickname of the intercollegiate athletic teams of Harvard College. The school's teams compete in NCAA Division I. The Soling is an open keelboat that holds the World Sailing "International class" status. The class was used from the 1972 Olympics until the 2000 Olympics as "Open three-person keelboat". Besides the Olympic career of the Soling the boat is used for international and local regattas as well as for recreational sailing. The Soling is managed by the International Soling Association under auspician of World Sailing since 1968.
The NC State Wolfpack is the nickname of the athletic teams representing North Carolina State University. The Wolfpack competes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for all sports since the 1953–54 season. The athletic teams of the Wolfpack compete in 22 intercollegiate varsity sports. NC State is a founding member of the ACC and has won eleven national championships: five NCAA championships, two AIAW championships, and four titles under other sanctioning bodies. Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad. With the exception of 1904 and the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule. The Sailing program of 1972 consisted of a total of six sailing classes (disciplines). For each class seven races were scheduled from 29 August 1972 to 8 September 1972 of the coast of Kiel-Schilksee in the Bay of Kiel. Kiel hosted the Olympic sailing competitions for the second time, having previously done so during the 1936 Summer Olympics. The sailing was done on the triangular type Olympic courses.

Peter Burling is a New Zealand sailor. He was the 2021 America's Cup winning skipper and helmsman, and the 2017 America's Cup winning helmsman of Team New Zealand. Burling won an Olympic gold medal in the 49er class at the 2016 games and silver medals in the 2012 and 2020 Olympics.
Mark Mendelblatt is an American yachtsman. Married to windsurfer Carolina Mendelblatt, he primarily sails the Laser Radial, a one-design class of small single-handed sailing dinghy. Beginning in 2005, he also started to race in the two-person keelboat Star class.
Stuart Hodge Walker was an American Olympic yachtsman, writer, and a professor of pediatrics. He competed as a sailor at the Olympic Games; won many national and international championships in different classes and wrote over ten books.
David "Dave" Hughes is a US Olympian, multi-time World and national champion, and professional sailor. Hughes was a member of the 2020(21), 2016, and 2012 US Olympic Teams. He is best known for his accomplishments on the Olympic sailing circuit as both an athlete and coach. Hughes lives in Miami, FL.
Jacob Saunders is a Canadian sailor. Along with his partner Graeme Saunders, he competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 470 event, finishing in 22nd place. He represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics together with Oliver Bone of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, finishing in 17th place in the men's 470 event. He started his early training and career with the Chester Yacht Club, competing as Jacob Chaplin-Saunders.

US Sailing's Miami Olympic Classes Regatta is an annual sailing regatta at the US Sailing Center in Miami, held since 1990. It hosts the Olympic and Paralympic classes.
Carol Newman Cronin is an American Olympic sailor and author who competed in the Yngling class at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She won the 2018 Women's Snipe World Championship and was third at the 2004 Women's Yngling World Championship. She also won the 2002 US Sailing's Miami Olympic Classes Regatta in the Yngling class. As tactician, she won the 1999 Rolex International Women's Keelboat Championship sailing with Pat Connerney.
The Tufts University Sailing Team represents Tufts University in the intercollegiate sport of sailing. They are members of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA), the governing body for collegiate sailing, and compete at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA).
The South Florida Bulls sailing team represents the University of South Florida in the sport of sailing. The team competes in the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association within the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association. The Bulls are coached by Allison Jolly, a member of the National Sailing Hall of Fame and gold medalist in the first Olympic women's sailing event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. She has coached the team since 2004. The team's home venue is within Tampa Bay, at the Donald A. Haney Landing Sailing Center on the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus. It is the university's only varsity sport based on the St. Petersburg campus.
