Dennis Geoffrey Jensen is an Australian former politician. He was elected to the House of Representatives at the 2004 federal election,winning the Division of Tangney for the Liberal Party. Jensen lost Liberal preselection for the 2016 federal election,and subsequently resigned from the party to stand as an independent. In August 2017 he joined the fledgling Australian Conservatives party. Jensen has a PhD in materials science from Monash University,and before entering politics worked as a CSIRO researcher. He is known for questioning the anthropogenic causation of climate change.

Raymond James O'Connor was an Australian politician who served as the premier of Western Australia from 25 January 1982 to 25 February 1983. He was a member of the Parliament of Western Australia from 1959 to 1984,and a minister in the governments of David Brand and Charles Court. O'Connor was born in Perth and attended schools in the Wheatbelt towns of Narrogin and York as well as St Patrick's Boys' School in Perth,leaving school at the age of 14. He competed in athletics and played Australian rules football as a teenager and young adult,including playing 14 matches for East Perth in the Western Australian National Football League. During World War II,he served in the Second Australian Imperial Force in New Britain and Bougainville.
George Gear is a former Australian politician. He was the mayor of the City of Melville in Western Australia from 2019 to 2023,and had previously served from 1983 to 1996 in Federal Parliament including as Assistant Treasurer under the Keating government.

Grayden was a backbencher in federal parliament,but later held ministerial office in the state government of Charles Court. His brother David and grandfather Nat Harper were also members of parliament.
Peter Anthony Richardson is an Australian doctor and former politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1975 to 1977,representing the Division of Tangney. He was elected as a member of the Liberal Party,but shortly before the 1977 federal election defected to the libertarian Progress Party and was an unsuccessful candidate for the Senate.
Adele Simone Carles is an Australian former politician. She was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2009 to 2013,representing the electorate of Fremantle. She was initially elected as a Greens WA member at the 2009 Fremantle state by-election,becoming the first Greens candidate to be elected to an Australian state lower house of parliament in a single-member seat. However,she resigned from the Greens on 6 May 2010 to sit as an independent. In November 2010,Carles agreed to guarantee confidence and supply votes for the incumbent Colin Barnett Liberal minority government. She ran for re-election as an independent at the 2013 state election,but was defeated,finishing fourth behind the Labor,Liberal and Greens candidates with 5.49% of the vote.

The 2013 Australian federal election to elect the members of the 44th Parliament of Australia took place on Saturday 7 September 2013. The centre-right Liberal/National Coalition opposition led by Opposition leader Tony Abbott of the Liberal Party of Australia and Coalition partner the National Party of Australia,led by Warren Truss,defeated the incumbent centre-left Labor Party government of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in a landslide. It was also the third time in history that a party won 90 or more seats at an Australian election. Labor had been in government for six years since being elected in the 2007 election. This election marked the end of the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd Labor government and the start of the 9 year long Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison Liberal-National Coalition government. Abbott was sworn in by the Governor-General,Quentin Bryce,as Australia's new prime minister on 18 September 2013,along with the Abbott Ministry. The 44th Parliament of Australia opened on 12 November 2013,with the members of the House of Representatives and territory senators sworn in. The state senators were sworn in by the next Governor-General Peter Cosgrove on 7 July 2014,with their six-year terms commencing on 1 July.

Urban was elected as a member of the Labor Party but resigned from the party and sat as an independent from November 2017,after a series of scandals involving false claims of his credentials,including his educational qualifications and his wearing of a police overseas service medal to which he had no entitlement.
