Edward Joseph "Petey" Perot (born April 28, 1957) is a former professional American football offensive lineman. He started in Super Bowl XV for the Philadelphia Eagles. Perot played college football at Northwestern State University and was drafted in the second round of the 1979 NFL draft by the Eagles. He also played for the New Orleans Saints in 1985. [1]
Following his playing career, Perot coached at Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech. [1]
Cedric A. Scott is an American professional football coach and former defensive end who is the head strength and conditioning coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). Scott played college football at the University of Southern Mississippi and was drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL draft. He also played for the Cleveland Browns, as well as in NFL Europa for the Scottish Claymores and Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Adalius Donquail Thomas is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). The Southern Miss Golden Eagles and Lady Eagles are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The Golden Eagles compete at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level mainly as a member of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC). USM's newest sport of women's beach volleyball, a sport not currently sponsored by the Sun Belt, was added in the 2018–19 school year and competes in Conference USA. James Walter Hopson is an American football coach and former player. In 2016, Hopson made history as the only head coach in the history of the state of Mississippi to guide two different in-state universities to bowl games when he led the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles to a victory in the New Orleans Bowl. During his head-coaching tenure with the University of Southern Mississippi (2016–2020), Hopson ushered the Golden Eagles to four straight bowl-eligible seasons, with his defenses and offenses ranking in the top-5 and top-25 in the NCAA, respectively. Additionally, in his four full seasons from 2016 to 2019, Hopson guided the University of Southern Mississippi to 20 conference wins, which made him the second-winningest coach in Conference-USA during that span.
Phillip Wayne "Bear" Underwood, known as P. W. Underwood, was an American gridiron football player and coach. He was the head coach of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles from 1969 to 1974.

The Golden Eagles played their home games at the M. M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and competed in the West Division of Conference USA (C–USA). They were led by first-year head coach Jay Hopson. They finished the season 7–6, 4–4 in C-USA play to finish in third place in the West Division. They were invited to the New Orleans Bowl where they defeated Louisiana–Lafayette.
