Petra Bagust is a New Zealand television presenter, radio host, podcaster and media chaplain, perhaps best known for her role as co-presenter of TVNZ's morning show Breakfast .
Bagust grew up in Christchurch and attended University of Canterbury, where she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1995. She began her television career at local TV station Cry TV. She later co-hosted youth TV series Ice TV, its sequel Ice As, and later a wide range of programming include travel shows, real estate shows, and game shows. [2] She was also a regular host of the annual event Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park and St Paul's GLOW Carols by Glowstick. [3] [4]
In 2008, 2009 and 2010 she hosted New Zealand program What's Really In Our Food?, broadcast on TV3. At the same time, she hosted a weekly radio programme with Pat Brittenden on Newstalk ZB. [5]
She changed networks in 2011 to present TVNZ's Breakfast alongside Corin Dann. [6] In October 2012 she announced her departure from the show [7] and was replaced the following year by Toni Street. [8]
In March 2022, Bagust launched a Rova podcast called Grey Areas, featuring her speaking with guests including Jackie Brown, Wendyl Nissan, Karen Walker, Robert Rakete, Miriama Kamo and Robyn Malcolm, about growing older in Aoteoroa. It soon became the top podcast in New Zealand and stayed in the top ten Apple Podcasts for eight weeks. Season two was launched in September 2022. [9] [10] [11]
In February 2023, Bagust launched a weekly two hour radio show that she hosts on Today FM called Sunday Sanctuary. [12]
Bagust is also a media chaplain with the Christian Broadcasting Association. [13] [14]
Bagust was nominated for her work on What's Really In Our Food? in the Qantas Film and Television Awards three years running, 2008, 2009 and 2010. [15]
Her Grey Areas podcast won Best Entertainment Podcast – Seasonal at the 2023 New Zealand Radio Awards. [16]
Bagust married freelance cameraman Hamish Wilson in 2000; the couple have three children. Bagust's departure from morning television was explained as wanting to spend more time with her family. [7]
1 News is the news division of New Zealand television network TVNZ. The programme is broadcast live from TVNZ Centre in Auckland. The flagship news bulletin is the nightly 6 pm news hour, but 1 News also has midday and late night news bulletins, as well as current affairs shows such as Breakfast and Seven Sharp.

Paul Henry Hopes, known professionally as Paul Henry, is a New Zealand radio and television broadcaster who was the host of the late night show The Paul Henry Show on New Zealand's TV3 which ended December 2014 so that Henry could host a new cross platform three-hour breakfast show Monday to Friday on TV3, RadioLive and online. Paul Henry launched on 7 April 2015 and initially had an audience larger than the two shows it replaced on radio and TV. For nine months in 2012, he also co-hosted an Australian television show, Breakfast, which ceased production on 30 November 2012, due to low ratings.
Hilary Ann Barry is a New Zealand journalist and television personality who co-hosts Seven Sharp with Jeremy Wells on TVNZ 1. She was a newsreader on TV3 for many years and until 2016, presented the 6 pm Newshub show with Mike McRoberts. She also worked on the Paul Henry morning TV show since its launch, reading the news.
