A flexible-fuel vehicle (FFV) or dual-fuel vehicle is an alternative fuel vehicle with an internal combustion engine designed to run on more than one fuel, usually gasoline blended with either ethanol or methanol fuel, and both fuels are stored in the same common tank. Modern flex-fuel engines are capable of burning any proportion of the resulting blend in the combustion chamber as fuel injection and spark timing are adjusted automatically according to the actual blend detected by a fuel composition sensor. Philanthotoxins are polyamine toxins, a group of toxins isolated from the venom of wasps and spiders which immediately but reversibly paralyze their prey.. δ-philanthotoxin, also known as PhTX-433, is the most active philanthotoxin that can be refined from the venom. PhTX-433 functions by non-selectively blocking excitatory neurotransmitter ion channels, including nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) and ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs). Synthetic analogues, including PhTX-343 and PhTX-12, have been developed to improve selectivity. While the IC50 values of philanthotoxins varies between analogues and receptor subunit composition, the IC50 value of PhTX-433 at the iGluR AMPA receptor naturally expressed in locust leg muscle is 18 μM and the IC50 value at rat nAChRs is 1 μM.
Silas Lima Malafaia is a Brazilian Pentecostal pastor, author and televangelist, who also has a degree in Psychology. He is the leader of the Pentecostal church Assembleia de Deus Vitória em Cristo, a branch of the broader Assembleias de Deus movement of Pentecostal churches in Brazil. Antônio Roberto Monteiro Simões is a Brazilian-born linguist interested in the phonetics and phonology of the Romance languages. Simões is an associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese linguistics at the University of Kansas, in Lawrence, USA, where he teaches Hispanic linguistics. He has authored books, textbooks and articles contrasting the Portuguese and Spanish languages. Simões is currently conducting research work on speech models and foreign language learning models, especially in relation to phonetics and phonology. Simões work on modeling is a continuation of his Ph.D. thesis; an adaptation of the late Dennis Klatt's 1976 pioneering model to predict duration in connected speech.
8-Prenylnaringenin is a prenylflavonoid phytoestrogen. It is reported to be the most estrogenic phytoestrogen known. The compound is equipotent at the two forms of estrogen receptors, ERα and ERβ, and it acts as a full agonist of ERα. Its effects are similar to those of estradiol, but it is considerably less potent in comparison.
