The Pheu Chart Thai Party (Thai : พรรคเพื่อชาติไทย; RTGS: Phak Phuea Chat Thai; For Thai Nation Party) is a Thai political party founded by Ampapan Thanetdejsunthorn in 2018. [1] Ampapan was the "minor wife" of the late former Army chief, Armed Forces Headquarters Supreme Commander, and coup leader Sunthorn Kongsompong.

Thai language language spoken in Thailand

Thai, Central Thai, is the sole official and national language of Thailand and the first language of the Central Thai people and vast majority of Thai Chinese. It is a member of the Tai group of the Kra–Dai language family. Over half of Thai vocabulary is derived from or borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit, Mon and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language, similar to Chinese and Vietnamese.

The Royal Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS) is the official system for rendering Thai words in the Latin alphabet. It was published by the Royal Institute of Thailand.

Sunthorn Kongsompong 20th-century Thai general

Sunthorn Kongsompong was the de facto head of government of Thailand from 1991 to 1992, after a military coup d'etat led by Sunthorn and General Suchinda Kraprayoon deposed the government of Prime Minister Chatichai Choonhavan on February 23, 1991. The generals accused Chatichai of corruption, and established the National Peacekeeping Council (NPKC) as an interim administration, with Sunthorn as chairman.

Scandal

Ampapan was at the center of a corruption scandal in the early 2000s, involving litigation with Sunthorn's legal wife, Khunying Col. Orachorn Kongsompong, after the general left most of his ฿6 billion ($134 million) estate to Ampapan, raising questions as to how he had managed to amass such a large fortune on a public salary. [2] Sunthorn's son is Apirat Kongsompong, a four-star general who as of 2018 was Assistant Army Commander, and was tipped as favorite for next army chief. He is a close associate of King Vajiralongkorn.

Apirat Kongsompong Assistant Commander in Chief

Apirat Kongsompong is the Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Army effective 1 October 2018. He previously served as Assistant Commander in Chief from October 2017 to September 2018 and the Commanding General of the 1st Army Area from October 2016 to September 2017. General Apirat Kongsompong also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Government Lottery Office, and was formerly an Independent Director at Bangchak Petroleum Public Co., and a member of the National Legislative Assembly.

Vajiralongkorn King of Thailand

Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun is the King of Thailand since 2016. He is the only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. In 1972, at the age of 20, he was made crown prince by his father. After his father's death on 13 October 2016, he was expected to accede to the throne of Thailand but asked for time to mourn before taking the throne.
