Philip Newton, M.D. was an American who served with the Russian ambulance corps during World War I and was promoted to a General by Nicholas II. [1]

Biography

He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. [2]

While in Russia in 1915 he married Helene Shahofskaya. [2]

Kazimir Severinovich Malevich was a Russian avant-garde artist and art theorist, whose pioneering work and writing had a profound influence on the development of non-objective, or abstract art, in the 20th century.
