Philippe Charrier, born in 1954, is a French businessman. In 2022, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of Orpea.

Biography

He was born in 1954 to a worker father and grew up in Courbevoie.

He was the victim of a serious motorcycle accident at the age of 20 and then joined HEC Paris, from which he graduated in 1978. [1]

He was president of Procter & Gamble France from 1999, a group he joined after HEC Paris as a financial executive.

He is also credited by Les Échos as one of the sources of the success of the companies Oenobiol, Labco and Ponroy-Avea. [2]

In March 2017, he became chairman of the board of directors of Orpea without an executive role.

In 2019, he was appointed general director of the Mayoly Spindler medical laboratory. [3]

In January 2022, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of the Orpea group after the dismissal of CEO Yves Le Masne following the revelations made in Victor Castanet's investigative book, Les Fossoyeurs. [4]

In February 2022, he was then criticized by the press for his unconvincing answers and his “empty speech” to the Social Affairs Committee of the National Assembly. [5]

Private life

He has two children. [6]

In 2010, he founded an association, Clubhouse France, dedicated to the reintegration of people suffering from mental disorders. He is also the head of the Alain Charrier Foundation, named after his brother who died in a motorcycle accident. [7]
