World Beach Games appearances

The Philippines competed at the inaugural World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar from 10 to 12 October 2019. The country was represented by two athletes in two sports; aquathlete Claire Adorna and skateboarder Jericho Francisco. They were accompanied by four officials with Tom Carrasco as the delegation's chef de mission. [1]

Tom Schaar American professional skateboarder (born 1999)

Tom Schaar is an American professional skateboarder. He was the first skateboarder to land a "1080," which is three revolutions. He became the youngest X Games gold medalist after completing the first 1080 in a competition at the 2012 Asia X Games in Shanghai; youngest Dew Tour champion, the youngest Vans Pool Party champion, and the youngest "Big Air" gold medalist at the Austin X Games. Before turning 18 years old, Schaar was a nine-time X Games Medalist. On March 20, 2019 Schaar was named to the first-ever U.S.A Skateboarding National Team and will be competing for a spot to represent the USA at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Forbes Magazine listed Schaar to their 2020 30 Under 30 Sports category highlighting the next generation of Sports talent.

Maria Claire Adorna is a professional Filipina triathlete and swimmer.

Miesinnei Mercy Genesis is a Nigerian freestyle wrestler. At the 2016 Summer Olympics she competed in the Women’s freestyle -48 kg.

2019 World Beach Games Inaugural event of the World Beach Games

The 2019 World Beach Games, officially known as the ANOC World Beach Games Qatar 2019 and commonly known as Qatar 2019, was an inaugural international beach multi-sport event organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). It was held for five days, 11 to 16 October 2019, in Doha, Qatar, with the opening rounds for certain events being held on 11 October 2019, the day before the opening ceremony on 12 October.

The World Beach Games is an international multi-sport event organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). The games are held every two years. The first edition was planned to be held in San Diego, United States from 10 to 15 October 2019, but was later relocated to Doha, Qatar after San Diego failed to raise the necessary funding.

Sandra Sánchez Spanish karateka

Sandra Sánchez Jaime is a Spanish karateka. She won the gold medal in the women's kata event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. In 2018, she became world champion in the women's individual kata event at the 2018 World Championships in Madrid, Spain. She also won the gold medal in this event at the European Karate Championships in six consecutive competitions. She is also recognised by Guinness World Records for winning the most medals in the Karate1 Premier League; she won 35 consecutive medals between January 2014 and February 2020.

Damián Hugo Quintero Capdevila is a Spanish karateka. He won the silver medal in the men's kata event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He is also a two-time silver medalist in the individual kata event at the World Championships, a six-time gold medalist in his event at the European Championships and a two-time gold medalist in this event at the European Games.

Beach wrestling at the 2019 World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar was held on 14 and 15 October 2019. The competitions were held on Katara Beach.

Steven Yancy Piñeiro Pagán is a Puerto Rican professional skateboarder. He grew up in the Puerto Rican diaspora in Connecticut, New York and Florida and repatriated to Puerto Rico in 2019. His family is entirely of Puerto Rican descent from the municipality of Toa Baja; his father Steven Piñeiro was born in New York and his mother Elizabeth Pagán was born in Puerto Rico. He is the third child of four siblings. He has competed globally since the age of 12 in skateboarding event. In 2019, he repatriated to his family’s hometown Toa Baja, Puerto Rico where he chose to represent Puerto Rico in sporting events moving forward out of a deep love and admiration for his island, it’s culture and people.
