Phoenix City Hall is the center of government for the city of Phoenix, Arizona, United States.

Background

Located in Downtown Phoenix, the 20-floor, 368-foot (112-meter) [2] building was designed by architectural firm Langdon Wilson. Construction began in 1992 and was completed in 1994. [3] It replaced the former city hall, now known as Old City Hall. [3] The total cost to build City Hall and its adjacent parking garage, and to renovate Old City Hall, was US$83 million. [3]

Additional city services are administered from the Calvin C. Goode Municipal Building.

Phoenix's original city hall, at 1st Street and Washington (on Block 23) was demolished after the construction of Old City Hall. [4] [5]

It is 40 stories tall, but the highest occupiable floor is the 38th. The hotel's façade is clad in textured split ribbed concrete block.

The Phoenix Convention Center is an events venue in downtown Phoenix, Arizona located along East Monroe, East Washington, East Jefferson, North Second, North Third, and North Fifth Streets. It opened in 1972 and hosts national and regional conventions and trade shows as well as consumer events and theatrical productions. It consists of three buildings: the North and West Buildings are connected underground by a shared exhibit hall and by a skyway bridge over North Third Street, while the South Building is a stand-alone facility. Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, 3300 North Central Avenue was built in 1980. Oxford Properties was developer of the project, and Poole Construction was contractor. Upon completion, it stood as the fourth-tallest building in Phoenix and the tallest building outside of Downtown Phoenix. It was built as the headquarters of United Bank of Arizona. Today, it stands as the 12th-tallest building in the city. It is currently the headquarters of the Arizona State Retirement System.
