Pierre Auguste Antoine Marie Guichet, MSC, MBE (born 21 January 1915, died 6 October 1989) [1] has been the Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Tarawa from 1961 to 1978, when Paul Mea succeeded him. [2]

He was bishop of Stectorium from 1961 to 1966 as Vicar Apostolic of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, until the creation, in 1966, of the Diocese of Tarawa in Teaoraereke.

He was ordained Priest on 24 March 1946, was Superior in the Catholic Mission of Melanesia, and consecrated Bishop on 18 November 1961. [3]

The Apostolic Vicariate of Tanganyika was a Catholic apostolic vicariate of the White Fathers missionary order at first centered on the mission of Karema in what is now Tanzania, that included parts of what are now Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia and Malawi. As the number of missions, schools and converts grew, different regions became distinct vicariates covering portions of the original territory.

Community of the Beatitudes

The Community of the Beatitudes is one of the "new communities" established in the Catholic Church after the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965) in the movement of the Charismatic Renewal Movement. It was founded in France in 1973, and came under the ecclesial authority of the Archbishop of Albi in southern France since May 1975. It was recognised in 2002 by the Holy See as an association of the faithful. On December 3, 2008, the Pontifical Council for the Laity asked the Community to change its canonical form and come under the authority of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. On June 29, 2011, the Holy See recognised the Community of the Beatitudes as a Public Association of the Faithful under the ecclesial authority of the Archbishop of Toulouse.

Pierre Auguste Gratien Pican S.D.B. was a French prelate of the Catholic Church who served as Bishop of Bayeux from 1998 to 2010. In 2001, he was given a three-month suspended sentence for failing to notify civil authorities of charges of sexual abuse of a minor made against one of his priests, the first criminal conviction of a French bishop since the Revolution.
