Pobe-Mengao is a department or commune of Soum Province in north-western Burkina Faso. Its capital lies at the town of Pobe-Mengao. ^[1]

History

On 28 October, 2019, Islamists ^{[ who? ]} shot 16 civilians dead in Pobe Mengao after they refused to help the gunmen buy weapons. ^{[2] [3]} During the incident, the rebels looted shops, stealing several vehicles from store owners. It was part of a broader campaign by Islamist rebels in the country. ^{[4] [5]}
