The FISU World University Games, formerly the Universiade, is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The former name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad".
Paweł Zagumny(listen) is a Polish former professional volleyball player. He was a member of the Poland national team in 1996–2014. A participant at the Olympic Games, the 2014 World Champion, 2012 World League winner, and the 2009 European Champion. A former president of the Polish Volleyball League.
Andrea Gardini is an Italian professional volleyball coach and former player, a silver and bronze Olympic Games medallist, three–time World Champion, and four–time European Champion. Gardini was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2007. He currently serves as head coach for the Polish PlusLiga team, PGE Skra Bełchatów.
Maciej Skorża is a former Polish professional footballer. He is currently the manager of J1 League club Urawa Red Diamonds.
Michał Bogusław Bąkiewicz is a Polish professional volleyball coach and former player. He was a member of the Poland national team from 2001 to 2011. A participant in the Olympic Games Athens 2004, silver medallist at the 2006 World Championship, and the 2009 European Champion.
The Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex, also known as the MacKenzie Intervale Ski Jumping Complex, consists of HS100- and HS128-meter ski jump towers built for the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York, United States. Modernized and lengthened in 2021, they are the only jumps in North America homologated for winter and summer jumping competitions. The complex is operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority.
Czesław Michniewicz is a Polish football manager and former player who managed the Poland national team in 2022.
Marcin Przemysław Lewandowski is a Polish retired middle-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships and silver in the same event at the 2018 World Indoor Championships. At the European Athletics Championships, Lewandowski claimed gold in the 800 metres in 2010 and silvers in 2016 and 2018 for the 800 m and 1500 m respectively. He took also five medals at the European Indoor Championships, including three golds between 2015 and 2019, and two silvers in 2011 and 2021.
Zbigniew Marcin Bródka is a Polish speed skater and a 2014 Olympic champion in 1500 metres. He also works as a firefighter in the State Fire Service station in Łowicz.
Wojciech Julian Włodarczyk is a Polish volleyball player. At the professional club level, he plays for LUK Lublin.
Hubert Aleksander Wagner was a Polish volleyball player and coach. He was a member of the Poland national team from 1963 to 1971, a participant in the Olympic Games Mexico 1968 and a bronze medallist at the 1967 European Championship. As a head coach, he led Poland to the titles of the 1974 World Champions and the 1976 Olympic Champions.
Nina Patalon is a Polish former football midfielder and manager, currently coaching Poland women's national team.
Magdalena Czyszczoń is a Polish speed skater. She competed in the women's 16 lap mass start event during the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games, commonly known as Lake Placid 2023, was a collegiate multi-sport winter sports held between January 12 to January 22, 2023 and had Lake Placid, New York, United States as main host city. Alongside Lake Placid, events were also hosted by neighbouring cites of Wilmington, Saranac Lake and Potsdam also located at the New York state. The event is also known as the 31st Winter Universiade as administered by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
Ekaterina Andreevna Kurakova, nicknamed Katia, is a Russian-Polish figure skater who currently competes for Poland. She is a two-time Warsaw Cup champion, the 2019 Mentor Toruń Cup champion, a four-time Four Nationals champion (2019–2022), and a five-time Polish national champion (2019–2023).

Ben Lederman is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Ekstraklasa club Raków Częstochowa. Born in the United States, he is a youth international for Poland.
Justyna Franieczek - Polish paralympic athlete. In 2021, she competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in 400m T20 finishing fifth. Finalist of the World Championships in Dubai in 2019, bronze medalist of the European Championships, Polish champion, member of the national team. She comes in the T20 category. In 2021, she won the title of world champion in the 400 m race and in the relay race. Finalist of the Tokyo Paralympic Games. On October 13, 2021, the Governor of Wielkopolska, Michał Zieliński, appointed Justyna Franieczek to the Sports Council of the Wielkopolska Province Governor.
Figure skating at the 2023 Winter World University Games was held on January 13–15 at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York, United States. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles and ice dance.
